In 1983 I voted for John Kirvin for town supervisor. Not only was he a Democrat, he had passed on a week before or so. I was a staunch anti-communist conservative beginning in 5th grade or so. I was fortunate enough to vote for Reagan in my first presidential election and that year I also voted for Sam Stratton (another Democrat.) Overall, I was skeptical of the leftist agenda at a young age. Reagan came along at the right time in history, just like FDR and Churchill did for my parent's generation. In retrospect, FDR did much to move us to a socialist state, but his defense of the free world was what made him truly great. So Jen, your generation will have time to acquit itself in it's choices, much like the teens of the British nation in the 1930's who were avowed pacifists and socialists. When the time came-they stood up valiantly to Hitler AND the pacifists they proved themselves. As Churchill said, the professors in the universities who tried to force appeasement down their throats never could. It was too late for them and they sit in the scrapheap of history with the other generations of the world who passed, rather than took their place in history.

I believe the 20-somethings have a way to go, and the tough economic times might temper the self-indulgence their baby boom parents jaded them with.

"While Foreign Terrorists were plotting to murder and maim using homemade bombs in Boston, Democrap officials in Washington DC, Albany and here were busy watching ME and other law abiding American Citizens who are gun owners and taxpayers, in an effort to blame the nation's lack of security on US so that they could have a political scapegoat."

In the '08 election, I voted for Obama because of his energy and the sense that he would not just stand by and basically cause this nation to collapse, which is where I believe it was heading. The status quo simply wasn't doing the job for me. I didn't just blindly vote for Obama because of his promise of change, although it certainly was a factor. How I voted in the national election doesn't always mean that what I will vote for our town. We need fresh faces and fresh ideas to take over and lead our town, and district 4. And when I say lead, I mean show an example, not create a dictatorship.

A Conservative in the 5th grade???? What an over-achiever. What exactly does that mean in 5th grade?  Did you demand less recess time or lunch time because it wasn't an effective use of your time.  Or were they paying extra hall monitors by then?  Then you went on to vote for Kirvin even though he died on TV debating Rod Bakos? (also recently deceased)

Right about this--boomer parents (me) have indulged their children.  Guilty as charged.  However, boomers are part of the peace generation/civil rights movement, women's movement and also imparted that history to their kids.

Jen you are on the right road and you have already shown us incredible knowledge and courage.  But stay out of politics.  You will end up like the rest of us "trolls" on some conservative board with a bunch of conservative thinkers who never want to be challenged.  No matter what always go for the challenge not the group who doesn't welcome challenge.  It's the challenge that causes you to think for yourself.

MT --yes that's right.  But that was not a free society.  Obama is NO dictator and I will concede that a lot of folks are becoming disenchanted with him.  Especially in the anti-war movement because we don't want anyone else to head to Afghanistan and die.  But my question to you is why back away from him so fast?  The country gave that fool Bush eight years to run us into the ground.  Now you want Obama to correct all of Bush's mistakes in one year??  Doesn't seem reasonable to me.

It takes a whole generation of bankers to run it to the ground.....it has NOTHING to do with political
party 'friends'.....gangstas at best......you cant honestly think that one stinkin' person does it ALONE....
really....I'm sure you must be smarter than that......they have gumbas all around and not to mention
there are 3 branches of our government.....you are a 'salted person' of the world are you not?

You guys have me laughing out loud! How can you draw such conclusions on today's youth? We know more about the current state of affairs than you think we do.  If I were truly a clueless 26 year old, I sure as anything wouldn't be on this blog. But I feel I should not remain quiet, I need to speak up for my generation. I've followed this election from the very beginning, and my mother did not force me to come on here in the 11th hour to defend her. I am just a concerned citizen that wants to see the right people put into office. Call it nepotism if you want, nothing I can say will make some of you see it otherwise.

And furthermore, I realize now that Obama probably wasn't the best choice for president. But I wanted a change, and I felt he could bring that change. I got taken, what can I say?

here's a piece of wisdom----there is no savior in politics.....last time that happened---Hitler happened

That kind of view puts the government on our backs.....we keep the nation together,,,generation after
generation after generation....and each generation deserves what it gets.....if the nation collapses it
is because of the generation........

there is no peace and never will be peace.....are you not a 'salted soul' of the world.....everyone does
have rights....and everyone has a right to be responsible for themselves-REALLY......being responsible
for oneself makes one free to make choices for oneself hence being responsible for the choice
one freely makes.......IE: the cigar and blue dress incident(a boomer)

CICERO- I have a question for you, what caused you to pull the lever for your candidate when you were 26? Just curious.

So I'm confused...you denounced people for saying your generation has little knowledge...yet used your age as an excuse for misjudging Obama?

People are sick and tired of the bleeding heart, tax and spend liberals.

However, people are also sick and tired of the liberal moderate republicans.
