White House Sees Global 'Consensus' to Pressure Iran on Nuclear Program
Representatives from Iran are expected to meet Thursday with representatives from Germany and the five permanent members of the U.N. Security Council, including the United States. Some lawmakers, though, are skeptical that the talks will produce meaningful results.

The international community is readier than ever to pressure Iran to end its suspected pursuit of a nuclear weapon, the White House said Monday, but some lawmakers expressed skepticism that upcoming talks with the Islamic Republic can produce any results.

Representatives from Iran are expected to meet in Geneva Thursday with delegates from Germany and the five permanent members of the U.N. Security Council, including the United States.

The meeting comes a week after Iran revealed the existence of a secret nuclear facility, which Western intelligence had been tracking since the Bush administration. And it comes just days after Iran conducted a series of missile tests...........>>>>...................>>>>............. http://www.foxnews.com/politics/2009/09/28/white-house-iran-crossroads-nuclear-program/

Iran will do what Iran always does keep talking with the rest of the world while it speeds up efforts to build a nuclear bomb.

I don't think you will see Israel sit back. They are a tough little country. They will strike first. IMHO

Let's  hope Israel can restrain itself for a few weeks to give the diplomatic channels an opportunity.
Netanyahu is not known for his patience.  As much as a hawk that he is, he isn't as bad as Sharon. I am sure the majority of Iranian people do not want this.

Are those the same "diplomatic channels" (aka sanctions/warnings/inspectors) that Iran has been ignoring and walking all over for years?

MT--no more war.  See what happens.  The leader of that country now is in a weakend position because his oppenent had so much support during the election.  He may have won inTehran but in the outer areas of Iran he didn't have the support of the people.  Patience is needed here.  Israel needs to give this some time.

Patience. Just like Poland had for Hitler in August of 1939.

"While Foreign Terrorists were plotting to murder and maim using homemade bombs in Boston, Democrap officials in Washington DC, Albany and here were busy watching ME and other law abiding American Citizens who are gun owners and taxpayers, in an effort to blame the nation's lack of security on US so that they could have a political scapegoat."

Sounds like the leader of THIS country.  He had the votes of the inner cities - but not in the heartland ... and it's showing now, he doesn't have the support "of the people"  (you checked his popularity rating - or that of Congress lately?)

'nuff said. Wipe Iran off the map - one gigantic mirror, that'll send a message that we're done with "negotiations" and "sanctions" that never work.

Leftists pacifists have the blood of one hundred million souls on their crimson-red hands over the past one hundred years. No nation was ever attacked because they were just too strong. Who are the anti-semites that want Israel wiped off the map now? The leftists and pacifists and the mainstream of the Democratic "in the know" crowd, that is who. Count Cal/Blender in their ranks. They want to give Iran more time to make the weapons that will annihilation the Jewish state which already by the way, gets 600 rockets launched at it per year. If the USA had ONE rocket launched at it we would have lost PATIENCE immediately no matter what the liberal Democrats would have counseled...As always weakness and vacillation leads to mass bloodshed.

Democrats make political gain from bloodshed and instability which is another means to their end (witness Chamberlain, Carter, Clinton, now Obama)...More bloodshed and mass slaughter and war= more instability= more government control= Democrat governance. How convenient.

But the promotion of the violent Islamic cult should have been warning enough for you who witnesses this crowd at work in Harvard Yard, NYU, Berkley and Serafini Estates, locally. No matter how many warnings you get, it is always a little too late to stop the mass murder and mayhem. Sad. Will the Jewish state ever be able to stand up for itself again or will the Deb Riitanos of the world unite to keep them from defending themselves, creating ANOTHER horrific holocaust? THAT is the question for the coming decade (if there IS that long for Israel.)

I say Israel, be our guest. Use your resources to wipe out the threat NOW, don't let the man in panties in the White House and the Riitanos of this once strong nation stop you from excersing YOUR RIGHT to defend yourself through preemptive strike. Don't let 1939 repeat itself. You have the capability, but has your will been dulled by American liberalism and weakness on the intellectual left? You look over your western shoulder at your own risk. The former president has called on America to shoot down your defense forces should they operate to stop your destruction. It should be a clarion call. American leftists (here on this blog) have counseled you to sit idley by awaiting the Iranian nuclear strike. America cannot be counted on as a force for moral clarity anymore as the Democrats have firmly and loveingly suckled at the breast of Mohammed and the Hitlerites, and now have firmly grasped the hand of your enemies...WAKE UP before there is no Israel.

Time for Obama to act presidential
Richard Cohen
Richard Cohen is a nationally syndicated columnist.

Sooner or later it is going to occur to Barack Obama that he is the president of the United States. As of yet, though, he does not act that way, appearing promiscuously on television and granting interviews like the presidential candidate he no longer is. The election has been held, but the campaign goes on and on. The candidate has yet to become commander in chief.
Take last week’s G-20 meeting in Pittsburgh. There, the candidate-in-full commandeered the television networks and the leaders of Britain and France to give the Iranians a dramatic warning. Yet another of their secret nuclear facilities had been revealed and Obama, as anyone could see, was determined to do something about it — just don’t ask what.
The entire episode had a faux Cuban missile crisis quality to it. Something menacing had been discovered — not Soviet missiles a mere 100 miles or so off Florida, but an Iranian nuclear installation about 100 miles from Tehran. As befitting the occasion, various publications supplied us with nearly minute-by-minute descriptions of the crisis atmosphere earlier in the week at the U.N. session — the rushing from room to room, presidential aides conferring, undoubtedly aware that they were in the middle of a book they had yet to write. I scanned the accounts looking for familiar names. Where was McNamara? Where was Bundy? Where, in fact, was the crisis?
In fact, there was none. The supposedly secret installation had been known to Western intelligence agencies — Britain, France, the U.S. and undoubtedly Israel — for several years. Its existence had been deduced by intelligence analysts from Iranian purchases abroad, and it was pinpointed sometime afterward. What had changed was that news of it had gone public. This happened not because Obama announced it but because the Iranians beat him to it after discovering that their cover was blown. They then turned themselves in to the International Atomic Energy Agency in Vienna and, as usual, said the site was intended for the peaceful use of nuclear energy. These Persians lie like a rug. .................>>>>.....................>>>>.............http://www.dailygazette.net/De.....r00700&AppName=1

Israel should listen to Obama and do nothing while Iran upgrades its missiles and anti-aircraft defenses? People that fail to learn history are doomed to repeat it.

Here's what polenta Obama will do-NOTHING. Weak as water. Besides he's too busy with the Olympics? Israel must act because everyone else is spineless and wants to talk and talk and talk.

Iran elected a President? lol. He got more votes than eligible voters. An election only Chicago KRATS would approve of.

Europe and the US have given him one chance after another. Time for action-eliminate the problem.
