1) it's not polite to tell people to SHUT UP.. people kinda tune you out when you argue with insults..
2) Yes Sal, we all have our duty to pay our taxes and pay our fees, but when time and time again it's wasted, how much can you pay?

For those who are opposed to the proposed license plate fee (we think that's everyone!) can sign an on-line petition against it. The link for the petition is:

State unveils new license plate design
Last updated: 6:35 p.m., Tuesday, November 10, 2009

ALBANY -- The state Department of Motor Vehicles' new design for license plates will take many drivers down memory lane
Echoing a color scheme used decades ago in the Empire State, the plates are "Empire gold" with dark-blue lettering -- a stark difference from the current white and dark blue design featuring state landmarks.
The new design is reminiscent of the color scheme used from 1973 to 1986.

And that's exactly the look the DMV was going for, said Motor Vehicle Commissioner David J. Swarts.

I think they are crappy looking, but that isn't really the issue, cause after all, they are just license plates. What does bother me, is forcing me to buy new ones, when the ones I have look great and are in great condition.

It's time for our elected officials in state government to exit stage right or left, depending on their political persuasion.

As (I believe) senders used to assert, "they all feed from the same trough".

Replace those forcing us to replace license plates

State [commits] fraud [with] license plate replacement. What a way for the state to make money and fill budget holes, but not one motorist or one police officer makes any sense of this.
I own a local business with several trucks. My plates are all good — there are no reflectivity issues. If for one moment people believe this [nonsense], they deserve to pay.
I hope taxpayers have a way to voice their opinions over some law shoved down their throats for no reason other than the state saying so.
Last I knew, we were still a free country.
Let New York motorists vote for the changes they want, not some dumb politician telling us stories. New Yorkers need to get together and vote politicians out so as not to do more damage to our state.

License plate fee could be dropped

By RICK KARLIN, Capitol bureau
Last updated: 5:17 p.m., Sunday, November 15, 2009

ALBANY -- Facing a voter backlash, and less than 24 hours before a group of protesters and county clerks are scheduled to march on the state Capitol, Gov. David Paterson said today he will try and cancel a controversial $25 fee for new license plates that was part in this year's budget.

CAPITOL
License plate plan fizzles
Paterson bows to public protests

BY MICHAEL GORMLEY The Associated Press

The rallying cry of “no new plates” has apparently reached the ears of the state’s top elected officials.
Gov. David Paterson said Sunday that he would drop support of a plan to require vehicle owners to pay for new license plates if state legislators work with him to find other ways to generate revenue.
The license plate plan announced early this year had been expected to raise $129 million by requiring vehicle owners to pay $25 to buy new plates starting next year, but the idea was immediately scorned by New Yorkers across the state, who have been hit with historic tax increases to fight a state fiscal crisis amid a recession.
Democratic and Republican leaders of the Assembly say they will work to repeal the measure passed in April as part of the state budget.
More than 100,000 people have signed an online petition at http:// http://www.nonewplates.com/ that St. Lawrence County Clerk Patricia Ritchie put up to protest the new license plate plan. She is scheduled to deliver it to Albany today. .......................>>>>................>>>>...........http://www.dailygazette.net/De.....r00102&AppName=1
