For the past week or so, the public has heard numerous developments in a terrorism case involving Najibullah Zazi, an airport-shuttle driver arrested over the weekend in Denver.
Now the FBI says it has broken up what may have been the most serious terror plot aimed at US targets since 9/11, with the city as Ground Zero yet again.
The case points up the complexity of such plots and of the investigations to foil them. Law-enforcement agents deserve praise for their dogged pursuit.
Officials haven't released many details yet; indeed, they don't appear certain of everything themselves.
But the 24-year-old was tracked for over a year. He twice traveled to Pakistan, where he admits he received explosives training from al Qaeda.
Agents found notes on making and handling explosives and detonators on his laptop. The FBI located a "black scale" -- used to measure explosives involving hydrogen peroxide -- and batteries in an apartment with his fingerprints.
Others remain under investigation on suspicion of planning to "detonate improvised explosives in the US," according to the Justice Department.
Specifically, officials fear a plot to set off bombs in mass-transit systems -- a la London and Madrid.
Reports say the FBI moved in against Zazi earlier than planned because he'd been tipped off by his father and a Queens imam who, while ostensibly cooperating with terror investigators, actually was a double agent.
Thus, no one can be sure if Zazi's arrest has broken up the plot for good, or merely derailed it temporarily.
It can't be said enough: Vigilance -- and the freedom of law enforcement to move swiftly and without restraint -- are key. America relaxes at its peril.

...you are a product of your environment, your environment is a product of your priorities, your priorities are a product of you......
The replacement of morality and conscience with law produces a deadly paradox.
STOP BEING GOOD DEMOCRATS---STOP BEING GOOD REPUBLICANS--START BEING GOOD AMERICANS
