OK, not all Angry Ones are hypocrites Tuesday, September 8, 2009 By Carl Strock (Contact) Gazette Reporter
Very well, I admit it, I went too far recently when I said angry opponents of government health care have no qualms about big government when it comes to making war, torturing prisoners and in general being brutal. That’s accurate enough for most of the Angry Ones, those who misleadingly identify themselves as conservatives, but it’s not accurate for the small minority that identify themselves as libertarians. That small minority of liberty-minded people are more consistent. They oppose almost everything government does, including the invasion of Iraq, the Patriot Act, the torture of prisoners, the bugging of telephones by the National Security Agency and the subsidizing of business, as well as such benign programs as Medicare, education, and now the “public option” in President Obama’s health care reform. So I apologize to them. They may be goofy, they may be hopelessly romantic, but they are more or less consistent. The purest of them would take us back to an imaginary past when proudly free savages, in their privately owned caves, educated their children and worshipped their gods without interference from any tribal council. They come in many stripes, from far right to far left, with gradations in between that need not concern us, but in the end they are not a mass movement that dominates our national life the way self-described conservatives dominate it, and they are not the people I have in mind when I talk about the hypocrisy of scorning big government when it’s benign and cheering for it when it’s malevolent...................>>>>>......................>>>>......................http://www.dailygazette.com/news/2009/sep/08/0908_strock/

Well Carl your opinion page will serve my parakeet well again this week. You're on the wrong side of this one again. Conservative Reps, Moderate Dem, Libertarians, and Independents are all against health-care because it takes away their control to choose what type of health-care they want. They don't want the government choosing anything for them especially with the track record the government has. The Liberal Dems don't want health-care they want total control of our lives and if you read the bill you would understand that. Ask yourself why the government wants your medical records, your financial statements, and the ability to transfer money out of your accounts that's in the health-care bill. The majority of the people in this country according to the polls, don't want a government take over of health-care, redistribution of their wealth, giving green jobs only to the poor, or the closing of coal fired generating plants which will force even more people out of a job. They want to keep what freedom they have left. |

Mr. Strock needs to stay focused on the horrible Schenectady City Schools. That's the only issue he makes any sense on. By the way, since he got involved NOTHING has improved. |

Strock has apparently sunk to a new low. Guess he's trying to be a shock jock columnist. He is starting to sound a bit foolish these days. Yet another low for the gazette. |

Strock is right about one thing-the pathetic City Schools/Bored-that has been run into the ground by the DEMS. Like a blind pig finding an occasional acorn. Now he is back to his usual blarney. Get back to the City Schools. No one has resigned in disgrace-YET. |

I thought it to be a very thoughtful article.....made me think about myself...... |

The replacement of morality and conscience with law produces a deadly paradox.

Why can’t Strock see Obama for what he is?
In response to Carl Strock's Sept. 22 column, "Angry Ones hate socialism, sometimes": He must be kidding. Does he really believe half of what he writes? The fact that he is a columnist and not a news reporter gives him the ability to deal in opinion, not fact! I truly believe he is much more angry than us "mob types" are. He states that "it’s not always obvious what we are angry about." Is he kidding me? Our message could not be more clear: We are angry about an administration that is totally out of control in its spending and expansion of government. The Congressional Budget Office even states that this spending is "unsustainable." Our national debt increases $100 billion every five weeks. And so Congress has to raise our legal debt ceiling from $11.8 trillion to $12.1 trillion! Strock is actually in favor of a government-run health plan, and I would be also if I thought it would not experience the same fate as all the other government-run entities such as Medicare, Medicaid, the post office, Social Security, etc. — all bankrupt or close to it. Carl is attaching himself to the fastest-sinking political ship in American history. This is supported by the fact that every time President Obama gives a speech, his numbers drop even further. The American people are tired of hearing great promises from the center of political ideology and then watch our inexperienced president try to pull the wool over our eyes once again and try to push through a very left-leaning, radical agenda. This Chicago politician is looking at one term if he does not wake up. And that would be a shame because he has the ability to make great and needed changes and the charisma to unite this country once again. So far, he has only divided and polarized us. And this is why you don't elect a totally inexperienced political person in charge of the most powerful nation in the world.
