Pharmacists are trained to administer vaccine so you won't have to travel far from home for immunization

By CATHLEEN F. CROWLEY, Staff writer

A flu shot is just around the corner for most New Yorkers.

More residents will be vaccinated at their neighborhood drug stores this year, the first full flu season that pharmacists in the state may administer the shots.

Though many pharmacies have previously hired nurses to deliver the shots, the state passed a law last year allowing pharmacists to immunize. The law was enacted in December, too late for many pharmacists to get certified for the 2008 flu season. But this year is different.

Signs up are going up and flu clinics are being announced. Prices for a shot range from $24 to $30, though most insurance plans cover some or all of the cost.

"Hopefully, we'll be able to immunize more people because we are so accessible and pharmacies are open more than doctor's offices," said pharmacist John Croce, co-owner of Four Corners Pharmacy in Delmar.

For many pharmacists, it will be the first time they have injected someone with the real vaccine. They all have gone through training and practiced injecting saline into each other as part of their certification. Giving injections has also been part of pharmacy students' training for years, Croce said. The Delmar pharmacist stuck his business partner four times during their training session.

"We're new out of the gate at this, but we're good at it," Croce said.

Why dont we train the heroin users.....they are experts....and I'm sure they will all be lining up to get the vaccine....or just
carry it around like sewer rats......

high risk population=those 'in the system'

this is why national healthcare doesn't work........

...you are a product of your environment, your environment is a product of your priorities, your priorities are a product of you......

The replacement of morality and conscience with law produces a deadly paradox.
