Stop the madness
Marv Cermak

When opening my National Grid bill the other day, I received a separate notice announcing a new state surcharge. This latest grab of money collected on your gas/electric usage goes to the state's general fund, aka the bottomless pit.

My bill shows a new $2.92 cost titled "temporary assessment surcharge.'' That is on top of an existing item called the tariff surcharge -- $3.85 on my bill.

And if you believe the new surcharge is temporary (supposedly ending in 2014), then you probably also put out cookies for Santa and the Tooth Fairy.

State legislators -- legalized pickpockets -- drain us with all kinds of hidden taxes to pay for bloat. They need endless revenue because they refuse to stop the spending spree.

When will this state get a brain and start to cut spending, cut the pork out of the budget, and get rid of the patronage jobs. It would appear that the people who we elected to run this state are not capable of doing the job for which they were elected to do so now it's time to vote them out of office. It's time to elect fiscally responsible legislatures who will reduce the tax burden on the taxpayers and start balancing the budget. The state can't keep spending more money than they have and keep raising the taxes to support all the welfare programs that this state provides. Enough already!!!

How about the legislature and their staffs and the elected and their executives.  Not to the rank and file employees

Strictly the GOP fault. Sal/Cicero said so. They need more one party rule to make it better.

"While Foreign Terrorists were plotting to murder and maim using homemade bombs in Boston, Democrap officials in Washington DC, Albany and here were busy watching ME and other law abiding American Citizens who are gun owners and taxpayers, in an effort to blame the nation's lack of security on US so that they could have a political scapegoat."
