It’s not ‘extreme’ to want to get tough with illegal aliens
Americans have become aware that illegal immigration and its effects are a threat to our way of life. Horrible, violent crime and the astounding facts proved in government studies shock us into reality. The Government Accounting Offi ce says that the total of all federal prisoners who are criminal aliens is 27 percent. Another GAO study found 55,322 illegal aliens were arrested 459,614 times, averaging about eight arrests per illegal alien. Nearly all had more than one arrest. If one thinks we can afford to continue the open border policy, then one must think again. There was recent news from Saratoga of a criminal alien who allegedly kidnapped and attempted to rape a 24-year-old woman, after working here for two years with his fellow violent gang members from an El Salvadoran gang. Now authorities think several other alien gang members are here in our area attempting to expand their reign of terror. All illegal immigrants are not peace-loving little old gents looking to pick fruit during summertime, or loving young mothers swaddling their babies. In Schenectady County I tried to confront the problem twice during my tenure and was shot down by the ruling Democrats, who tried to brand me an "extremist." In 2004 I submitted a bill to let our welfare department ask people getting benefits of any type to prove citizenship. It would also have let us check for outstanding warrants. If the fugitive came in for welfare, our sheriff could arrest them and deliver them to the INS or the jurisdiction where they were wanted. We could have gotten thugs out of our county and saved millions in welfare, but it couldn't get out of committee and was withdrawn. Recently the ruling Democrats declared we need to hire social service workers who speak Spanish so we could expand welfare. I then offered a bill that would give English lessons to welfare recipients instead, so they could actually get off welfare and get a job. Obviously that was insensitive to their needs, and at that point my bill was called a "Reichstag tactic" by one of the Democrat leaders. One local report even cast me as a bad guy, stating I became "bellicose" after being called a Nazi. Taxpayers are broke, and well-intentioned folks now feel we ought to roll out the red carpet and give illegal aliens national health care to boot. In order to stop going broke, look to common sense and get-tough solutions, not open-armed compassion for criminals and trespassers who jump to the front of the line to get what our parents and grandparents were patient for. It's time to get tough with the problem. Don't be silenced by special interests and radical groups. Keep speaking out.
First, you have to get rid of the LEGAL GUMBA GANGSTAS....the easiest way to control or extort, those poor poor folks, is to keep them uneducated and in the dark about the incestuous leaders of the great American institutions such as school boards, unions, polical leadership.....

Of course the DEMS don't want to check for criminals getting welfare here. So what if they are double dipping in Da Bronx? Nobody cares in Schenectady County-we welcome welfare fraud and unemployable criminals. The most important thing as Gov Spitzer stated was to get them on the voter roles. So what if they aren't citizens? No one cares at the polls. They don't even check for NYS licenses.
The County sheeple need to wake up and dump these phony DEM incumbents for life. Start with Judy DAG. In many cases there is no opponent-so write a name in-it's fun and easy to do. Ask any Rotterdam CONS.

Second, this is why Mr. Suhrada should have run for the county leg again. Whether he can accomplish anything or not, he clearly was informative as to what goes on 'behind the scenes'. And I believe he would have had a good shot since J Dago barely won last election and Vello is weak at best.
Thirdly, this may also be an attempt to politically promote himself for the town board's upcoming election.IMHO

Agree with this. The worst part are his County replacements. Neither is a REP! A GREEN and a CINO. As afar as Town Board against the prinicipal of horrible Mt Pleasant and Gasbag Godlewski have to like his chances.

Not martyring Mertz. That's Suhrada's shtick at the County level. Mertz isn't playing the victim. To me, it looks like he took lemons and made lemonade. He'll get the Republican line and he and 3 other conservatives created their own line. I guess I need to clarify. I'm pointing out the huge miscalculation by the Republican Party by not endorsing a sitting councilmen.

John Mertz and Mike O'Connor are running circles around this field. They will have two lines in November. Ditto for Brad Littlefield and Brian McGarry. When has a sitting REP been dumped a year before re-election? For what reason? This is all nonsense. Then look at Joe Suhrada's County replacement. Joe stood for something and it wasn't nutsy green issues in another County.
