SARATOGA SPRINGS Official calls Web site comments racist BY TATIANA ZARNOWSKI Gazette Reporter Reach Gazette reporter Tatiana Zarnowski at 587-1780 or tzarnowski@dailygazette.net.
After Ron Kim publicly objected to racist comments posted to The Saratogian’s Web site, the remarks have been taken down. Kim’s campaign spokeswoman Georgana Hanson lobbied local media on Thursday with an appeal to the newspaper to remove anonymous reader comments that compared Kim, who is half Korean, to a North Korean dictator. Kim is the only ethnic minority in a city elected office. The comments posted by readers in response to news stories referred to Kim as “Chairman Kim” and Kim Ron Il, apparent references to Kim Jong-il, leader of North Korea. One reader wrote: “Can you imagine if he is elected mayor? Perhaps he’ll change the name of our city to Pyongyang Springs and demand that we call him ‘Dear Leader.’ ” Hanson called the comments “offensive and degrading and beyond the scope of any acceptable level of political campaigning.” She asked the newspaper to better monitor the comments. The Saratogian has taken down the comments and does not agree with them, said Barbara Lombardo, managing editor. “We share his concerns about racism or any kind of slurs,” Lombardo said, adding the newspaper relies on community policing and people who object to comments are expected to report the abuse. The newspaper has banned users who cross the line too often from posting future comments, she said. ............>>>>...........>>>>............http://www.dailygazette.net/De.....r01101&AppName=1
"While Foreign Terrorists were plotting to murder and maim using homemade bombs in Boston, Democrap officials in Washington DC, Albany and here were busy watching ME and other law abiding American Citizens who are gun owners and taxpayers, in an effort to blame the nation's lack of security on US so that they could have a political scapegoat."
I guess it wouldn't be considered racist if they referenced 'nazi' or 'hitler' to this paul guy like the government/pelosi did about the people who oppose the government run health care proposal. ridiculous!
