Brad, i am not taking shots at you at all. I respect your ideals. My response is to the tomfoolery of some of the posters OTHER THAN YOU. I like all of your stands and YOU at least have made yourself conspicuously front and center battling the county liberal Leviathan that runs amok downtown. Very few citizens have been doing that, writing letters, watching the big money moving about.

I'm sure Mr. Bonnet will be sending checks to Mr. Littlefield in show of support for his efforts.   But my bet is that the recycle queen Mary Barrie will get Grahams support.  Mary's message and ideology is more in line with Grahms hero Joe Surhada, so she will probably receive   Grams support for district 4.   Oh,,,,,,I forgot,,,,,,, message and ideology doesn't matter, Mary paid her dues to the "party", her message and ideology are irrelevant.  Mary makes for a better party lemming.  No threat to the leadership.

Ask Mr. Mertz what happens when you cross party leadership.  Ideology goes out the window, in favor of party.

The current county Republican leaders are a bunch of phony's.

The NO NEW TAXES PARTY will be the top vote getter of all 3rd parties. REPS are not running fiscal Conservatives over here they are running greens. In the City and Nisky they are running blank slates. When there is a vacuum something must be created to fill it. That's where the NO NEW TAXES PARTY comes in.

Sal knows that it will be a major force Countywide after this year. They wish they had a NO NEW TAXES PARTY in the City and Nisky. Sick of hearing from the few remaining dead enders that the REPS are a suburban party. How to you explain the complete collapse in Nisky?

SCHENECTADY COUNTY
Roger Hull seeking new political party

BY MICHAEL LAMENDOLA Gazette Reporter
Reach Gazette reporter Michael Lamendola at 395-3114 or lamend@dailygazette.com.

Former Union College president Roger Hull wants to form his new political party to tackle problems in Schenectady County in time for city and countywide elections in 2011.
Hull, who retired from the college in 2005, does not have a name for the party but said it will consist of people on the left and the right of the political spectrum. “The goal is to find the best candidates with best ideas available. If this works, as I think it can and will, it should serve as a model for other communities,” Hull said.
In a column Hull wrote for The Sunday Gazette in March, he said the proposed political party would run under a nonpartisan Schenectady label. “Let them tackle problems that have not been solved by those who have long occupied the political stage in Schenectady; and let them tackle those problems for a voluntarily imposed period of time (maybe one term, maybe two), so they will not avoid making hard decisions in order to endear themselves to those whose vested interests — such as the police union — might help ensure their re-election,” he wrote. “What we have now is simply not working. We need different results, so let’s not do the same thing over and over.”
Some of the problems the party would seek to tackle are the high tax burden and problems within the city Police Department, Hull said.
Hull began collecting signatures about a month ago, but found he was unable to obtain the necessary 690 names to file petitions between Aug. 13-18. To create a countywide party requires the signatures of 5 percent of the people who voted in the last gubernatorial election.
“It was not realistic to file next week,” Hull said.
In addition to solving problems, the new political party would fill a void for residents seeking an alternative to uncontested candidates in local races, particularly for City Council, Hull said.

The article went on to say:

Quoted Text
Hull’s political party would be the second independent party proposed in Schenectady County this year. In Rotterdam, a group is seeking to create the “No New Tax Party” to back three candidates for Rotterdam Town Board and one candidate for the Schenectady County Legislature.
Brian McGarry, who is helping to create the “No New Tax Party” and is a candidate for Town Board, said the public is supportive of the effort and that the group hopes to file 1,000 signatures next week.
“We are close are but not there yet,” McGarry said. “There are lot of people in town who want to see true change and that in of itself is refreshing.”
Art Brassard, Republican commissioner of elections for Schenectady County, said the creation of the one, let alone two independent parties is unusual.

Forming two new parties is proof that people are not happy with the choices the existing parties have made and want a party that really cares about we the people and not about advancing their political careers at the expense of the taxpayer. A party who will work to address the concerns of it's constituents instead of taking care of every special interest group that comes along.

There's a vacuum caused by the total collapse of the two party system. See it in Rotterdam, Nisky and now the City. Instead of demanding resignations some seek a new party. That Roger Hull can't get enough petitions is no surprise. Wouldn't believe everything you hear at the soccer club. It's alot of petitions but my sources say they are close.

One Way Roger is not Mr. Popularity around the City. Instead of NO NEW TAXES his name should be NO PILOT PARTY. People will not forget that Union College, unlike RPI, demands more and more from police and fire and refuses to make ANY payment in lieu of taxes. He'd gather take $500,000 assessed Ramada Inn and all of Seward Place off the City tax rolls.

30,000 residents in this county and they don't have 1,000 signatures yet?  Doesn't sound like a slam dunk to me.

Since we all have "sources", my sources say we won't know till election day evening, or the next morning.

Let's see who's sources are more accurate.

You fail to mention that these guys, like McGarry are NOT beholden to any party. Which in turn means that these guys are out on foot with out the help of these major parties. Perhaps not a slam dunk....but we have been baffled with Bullsh*t before from the previous slam dunk politicians. Time will tell mm. Time will tell.

They can only get names from Rotterdam not the whole County. This is not easy during vacations but they will do it. Too many people see what's going on here. No matter what Commie Clyde says at his soccer club.

It's never easy starting a new party but it's a necessity given the collapse of the two party system. The DEMS are laughing at the complete lack of financed opponents.

I hear they are doing very well with their petitions. If nothing else, people have heard an entirely different message from these guys than what they have been use to hearing. I have heard nothing but positive things about these no new tax party guys. I don't even hear discussions about other candidates.

Time will tell!

McGarry and O'Connor showed their faces early on at the feast (Friday/Saturday), Mertz showed up last night and was seen chatting at length with Lt. Dagostino.  That concerns me ~ any thoughts?  Didn't see Littlefield.

Brain McGarry is the fiscal CONS running for Supervisor {against Steve T} not Town Board. Who cares who John Mertz chatted with at the Festa, at least he was there campaigning. Rumors of his unpopularity are totally unfounded. Saw him with a huge crowd of supporters and well wishers. The REP primary is shaping up as a complete rout.

Saw Brad Littlefield there buying fried dough for his family and friends. The other candidates are all hiding. They are under strict orders from party bosses not to post anything.

John Mertz is not my cup of tea.  Too pompous and arrogant, just like a typical lawyer.  We need change in that damn Town Hall is all I know.  Meanest people I have ever encountered in government in that Assessor's Office.  I am leading the charge to get that guy Surprise out.  The Democrats say they will do it and that is worth alot of votes in my opinion.
