Schumer: Amnesty Bill for Illegals by Labor Day

Wednesday, July 8, 2009 6:40 PM

WASHINGTON -- The lead Democrat steering an immigration overhaul through the Senate said Wednesday he expects to have a bill ready by Labor Day that is more generous to highly skilled immigrant workers than those who are lower skilled and is tough on future waves of illegal immigration.

In an interview with The Associated Press, Sen. Chuck Schumer said an immigration bill can be done by the end of the year or early next year that works out disagreements between labor and business interests on the flow of legal foreign workers.

"I think we'll have a good bill by Labor Day," said Schumer, D-N.Y. "I think the fundamental building blocks are in place to do comprehensive immigration reform."

Schumer said the way to get the bill done is to be very tough on future waves of illegal immigration. He declared himself pro-immigration and said the U.S. should encourage legal immigration and find some kind of path for people now here to find a way to legal citizenship.

"We have a shortage maybe of engineers here or Ph.D's in physics, but we probably don't have a shortage of people who can do construction work," Schumer said.

The AFL-CIO and the Change to Win labor unions earlier this year announced their support for immigration reform, which they have opposed in the past..........>>>>............>>>>.............http://www.newsmax.com/insidecover/us_immigration/2009/07/08/233426.html

Upchuck is at it again, nobody is opposed to legal immigration, this is just political double talk to get an amnesty bill passed to make illegal immigrants eligible to vote in time for next years election because the Democrats are going to need all of the illegals votes to stay in office.

Well, the democrats and republicans are the same altogether on this because Bush was, even though the vast majority of republicans would vote against this, they need to be all thrown out because Bush was for it, then you can have only liberal democrats who will strictly be for it. Roman logic or not?

Wait until the democrats really get done with our nation, you won't recognize it (after you get done holding your breath and waiting for the republicans to become extinct.)

"While Foreign Terrorists were plotting to murder and maim using homemade bombs in Boston, Democrap officials in Washington DC, Albany and here were busy watching ME and other law abiding American Citizens who are gun owners and taxpayers, in an effort to blame the nation's lack of security on US so that they could have a political scapegoat."

With tuition prices hitting record highs, pension plans becoming less common and financial literacy becoming more important, U.S. Senator Charles Schumer Wednesday unveiled a plan to help children and teens save money to afford college, purchase a house and retire.

The American Saving for Personal Investment, Retirement and Education Act (ASPIRE) of 2009 would create a lifetime savings account for all newborn children when their Social Security cards are issued. An account holder would not be able to access the funds until their eighteenth birthday. After an account holder turns 18, the account would be governed by rules similar to Roth Individual Retirement Accounts. These rules allow for tax-free withdrawals without penalty for select pre-retirement uses, including post-secondary education and first-time home purchase.

After the fund has been created, the Secretary of the Treasury would transfer $500 into each individual account.

Children born into households making less than the national median income would be eligible for an additional contribution of up to $500 — those that live at 75 percent of the median income would receive the full $500 bonus, with the bonus phasing out evenly until it hits $0 for people who are at the median income or above. Children in households that make below 75 percent of median income could receive a dollar-to-dollar annual match of the first $500 of annual contributions until they turn 18. Total contributions would be capped at $2,000 per year.

Before an individual turns 18, a parent or legal guardian would make investment decisions; at age 18, the account holder may begin to make investment decisions and additional contributions can be made following Roth IRA rules. Investment options for APSPIRE accounts would be similar to those for Thrift Savings Plans, such as a government securities fund, fixed income investment fund and common stock funds.

Upchuck Schumer is a national disgrace. He is cheering for Sotomayer and voted against Roberts and Scalia!

This should be the last straw for some of you INDS. Hopefully the REPS will finally get their act together and run an electable candidate to take this turkey out.

Hey that is what politicians do. Especially the libs. They pander to special interest groups and BINGO.......... they get their votes.

And then ya have.the unions who are standing there with their tongues hanging out just waiting for the government to give the illegals amnesty. The unions would swoop them up and JACKPOT!!

Next comes the government....at ALL levels. Get these illegals on the books and there ya have a JACKPOT again! More taxpayer money going into the government's pockets again!

But with most illegals being uneducated and unable to speak good understandable English, how will they be able to support themselves or their families with a low wage? Add health care into that one too!

The dems and reps appear to be on the same page with this one.

Can't wait to see how this will all play out!

This is all about stuffing the ballot box with illegal aliens so we can never get rid of these horrible KRATS. It didn't work last time-it will not work now. There is a growing backlash against these KRATS nationwide. Sooner or later sheeple in this County will wake up and demand an electable alternative. Until then bring your black pen to the polls.

What a nasty joke to play on the millions of citizens who immigrated legally.
