Really, the only difference between this school board and Stalin and his regime, is they don't have the power or resources of a standing army and a whole nation to get to their ends, and they haven't murdered anyone yet. Dictators like Stalin start out as petty school board chiefs, magistrates and county administrators that use brownshirts and bullies like our 'mad bomber' to carry out little terror acts. They use intimidation. They flaunt the will of the people and the rules. They do what they want, when they want and they always enjoy the fruits of nepotism. Of course, this young man thinks his father is the greatest thing since sliced bread. So do most kids.

He does something very telling on the same day his older sister (surprise- AN EARLIER VALEDICTORIAN!!!) goes nuts at the school board meeting defending her father's regime. He states that he would like to have lunch with noted communist and America-hater Noam Chomski AND he states he admires his father more than anyone in the world. I, the poster, comment on this, showing how the young man is misled by his very bad father into thinking that the old man's ends justifies the means (as radical Chomski would enjoy.) These are how control and command dictatorships start. They don't start with freedom loving patriots who want to be left alone to prosper. OUR FOUNDERS didn't seek to tax, control, command, bully, threaten, coerce and stifle dissent through force LIKE THIS SCHOOL ADMINISTRATION DID. This young man is misled, and gets a pass for now because of youth. BUT HE WON'T FOREVER! At some point he will do as the sister, and actively engage in the cover-up, and the PR stunts, and the coercion. As Noam Chomski would want and admire.

So if I as a poster on a blog cannot comment on this bizarre twist that this news story brings to the issue, without being called a "scumbag" by you, Cicero- how is this a free country and how is it any different than Stalin's regime anymore when we can have you (I hope you are not (I doubt) taking the role of apparatchik for the school board) come here and try to hit me for a comment regarding THIS FAMILY'S ROLE IN THIS UTTER DISASTER OF A SCHOOL SYSTEM WHERE PEOPLE HAVE HAD THEIR LIVES THREATENED BY A MAD MAN while Janisewski and his family benefited from it???????? We have the wife given the job without the civil service rules being followed, we have BOTH KIDS as valedictorians, we have BOTH KIDS USING THE PRESS TO DEFEND THE DEVIL'S HANDIWORK THAT THE FATHER HAS DONE. Where does this end?

Whether I have kids or not (none of your business) is no matter to the issue. One's motives or REASONS for having them or not having them mean nothing to the debate. It is like saying that if you haven't been shot at, then you have no right to comment about gun control. Or if you haven't changed your elderly parent's diapers you are a bad son. Or if you haven't donated tens of thousands to disabled kids you have no compassion. Give me a break.

I am done commenting on this. If no one thinks this kid's comments about Chomski, and his rotten father mean anything, then fine. But the other angle of this thread is that the schools want EVERY KID to be rewarded. They equalize EVERY KID rather than rewarding the hardest working and smartest. Also I commented that most of them think Obama (and his cult of personality) deserve greater reverence then REAL American heroes. This is a reflection on the young as they graduate. This is discussion (before there was political correctness and subtle censorship) of a matter that I FEEL deserves reflection and debate in this salon. If you don't like it, gather up your men, come to my house in the middle of the night- and TRY to carry me off to a dungeon somewhere. THIS IS THE OLD COUNTRY. THIS IS NOT EASTERN EUROPE. THIS IS NOT THE FAR EAST. I AM AN AMERICAN AND I WILL EXERCISE MY FREEDOM! Whether you want to attack me for it or not. I really don't care. Just remember that I will be vigilant and enjoy my freedom of speech as well, whether my detractors come from the left or the right.

"While Foreign Terrorists were plotting to murder and maim using homemade bombs in Boston, Democrap officials in Washington DC, Albany and here were busy watching ME and other law abiding American Citizens who are gun owners and taxpayers, in an effort to blame the nation's lack of security on US so that they could have a political scapegoat."

You're missing the point Gram, but I admire your spin.

Though I haven't changed an elderly parents diaper, I wouldn't condemn publicly the children of the person who chooses to put their elderly parents in a nursing home, rather than care for them themselves.

If I don't donate to disabled kids, I wouldn't expect my kids to be considered to have no compassion because I don't donate.  That's a little unfair.

If someday my children's words are quoted in the newspaper, praising me in some way. I would hope that those who have negative personal opinions of me, and are on the other end of the political spectrum, wouldn't paint my kids with the same paint brush.

Especially on a public forum by an elected official.

This is a great exercise in freedom of speech.  Exercise your freedom, as I will exercise mine.

No gathering of men, no carrying you to a dungeon, just a little verbal joust.

Like you, I too feel that this a matter of public debate.  I just differ on the use of the School Board Presidents children to further it.  I don't think the child's admiration of his father, and Noam Chomsky in any way furthered the debate.  I can think of many ways to voice my opposition to school boards and the failure of public schools in general, without dragging in a person’s child.

Your ability to persuade was never your strong suit.  Just blind fanaticism is.

Even companies will place carrots in front of the slowest donkeys to move them along.....with little awards for the little things
little do they know it's basically a way of saying "keep it small, you'll never get my job"......here's the thing....those 'carrots'
were never owned by the worker or school kid.....so if the 'system' wishes to 'reward' across the board,,,,the only thing to teach
each and every child is,,,,,what is not yours truly is not yours......everyone eventually passes through the fires that melt and purify
silver.......
every child should be taught to accept 'praise' with grace but always leave it where you found it,,,,,it is never yours just someone
else's hot air or envy, which ever,,,,,,better yet----tell them to put it in your paycheck or take a picture of the building you just
built and put it on your wall in your house,,,those are the things you own.......you do what you do because you do what you do.....
people have what they have because they have what they have......
special interests/favors/pats on the back/gangsta gumbas,,,,these too are 'rewards' that twist a person and in the fire in ones head
no one can quench it.....

...you are a product of your environment, your environment is a product of your priorities, your priorities are a product of you......

The replacement of morality and conscience with law produces a deadly paradox.

Well, if I am a thug like Janisewski, I hope my kids disown me. Not defend me.

I get a charge out of how many schools don't honor vals and sals, they expand upon it to include 10 or 20 or more students. Scotia, Nisky and Mohon are in that list. It looks like Shaker basically honors every kid who graduates or something. They don't want to hurt feelings these days. Every kid gets a trophy too,

Pretending to care about a person but really just satisfying a compulsion to broadcast your political philosophy.  Is there satisfaction in that ?

I can tell you don't actually know any smart kids- because if you did you would know that the top dozen or so in each class are very excited because they more than likely have scholarships to Colleges  and in September will be somewhere besides HERE -

Give them all ribbons and gold stars on their papers, just like you give each Little League Team the league trophy. That way, since they are all excited, no one ever has to lose or come in less than first, just like real (liberal) life. Right?

And you are correct, I don't know any smart kids. Never did. I live in a little podunk shell and and don't have the urbane sophistication of you or Cicero. I don't take helicopter rides with the Mallozzis, and I sure don't get invited to swell parties because "I know a lot of people."

I think your philosophy is does not work here.  In school ( as in real life)- those that are smart and somewhat ambitious  get scholarships- usually the first 10 or 15 students can go to college for free.  And if you are poor you have a better chance yet-  I don't know what you are talking about-
