AMSTERDAM — Despite the best efforts of some Greater Amsterdam School District employees, voters rejected the district’s proposed $55.4 million budget a second time Tuesday. The defeat means little to the taxpayer, Superintendent Thomas Perillo said. The district will still collect about 11 percent more money from taxpayers districtwide next year. The district needs to shave $200,000 off its proposed budget, which increased spending by 4.5 percent, to bring it down to contingency, which is a level set by state guidelines.
