I should run. I was once turned down for office once too, but I still helped out getting the better people elected, something YOU should have thought to do once. Did it hurt my feelings? Yeah. I got over it. And you should have too. And you should at least have attended a fund raiser once, or passed literature once, or knocked on a door once for another republican all the long while you worked and lived in Rotterdam. But you focused your efforts on being a community organizer instead, and then when you got the one group of leaders to help you fix a problem in your neighborhood, you went out and bashed the crap out of them and tried to get the people who never did anything ever for your neighborhood elected to office. That is why you deserve to be verbally challenged. Another reason is that you don't check your facts. Another reason is that you are the type of Republican like John McCain who thinks the biggest problem in the country is the Republican party. I can go on and on...

You are the kind of person who after a good samaritan stops and helps you fix a flat tire on the side of the road, you slash their tires, bop them on the skull with your tire iron and leave them stranded. You have to be the least grateful activist I have ever seen in my short life. Now you try to commence legal action at the Board of Elections against Supervisor Tommasone who actually LISTENED TO AND WORKED ON THE CONCERNS OF YOUR NEIGHBORS AND YOU FOR THESE YEARS! Yikes! Selfish to the tenth power.

So Mike, being the great conservative Republican you are endorsing liberal Godlewski and all- why did you file a legal challenge to the validity of all the 50 Republican committeemen on the Rotterdam Republican committee? You know, the ones you will need to vote for you this September? Now you want to strand all those good committee volunteers on the side of the road who did absolutely nothing wrong except they didn't endorse you for town board on your first attempt. In retrospect the ones that said "he seems like a good guy, maybe if he shows he can work with others and be somewhat of a team player, he will get endorsed next time" probably won't feel that way now...Explain yourself to them?

But here is the rub and the FACT. No one is afraid to primary you and your hollow promises since the folks you are running against actually have a record of being conservative Republicans, and have actually DONE something with their lives, both in and out of politics. They may not be perfect, and have their differences, but understand that in politics and in a Republic, elected officials work and compromise a teeny bit to get things done. If teacher doesn't pick you to sit at the front of the class today, you don't throw a hissy fit because there is always tomorrow for you to get noticed. But you usually get noticed for hard work and perseverance and the ability to work with people to achieve. (even ones you don't always like personally or idealogically.)

Could history be repeating its self?  I think so.  2001 Joe Sue Rah Rah, Tom and Gerry and Steve T go all out to dump Sigsnore.  Steve T and Katy O Connor blistered Joe Sigsnore at one of the first meetings after Joe S took over.  Steve railed against DeGeorgio and Aragosa and MacIsaac appointments.  Steve also made overtures about having dirt on Joe Sigsnore's goomade who worked in Town Hall.  Seems the names have changed to Fiorillo, Greasemer and Surprise.

Self destructive Rotterdam Republicans don't know any better I guess.  Mertz and Oconnor are just flies in the ointment just like 2001 Steve, Sue Rah Rah, Tommy Gun and Gerrry.  History repeating its self.

I remember that. Boy was that was ugly.  Can this year be any worse?  Time will tell!  I have a gut feeling that the Dems are lickin their chops

Here is a copy of an email that Mike O'Connor sent to the Democratic Elections Commissioner yesterday. This is public information and it is the right of the public to see these emails. Obviously good republican Mike is in communication with the Democratic County Chair and elections Commissioner about an attempt to press charges against Supervisor Tommasone for "talking to" someone the Supervisor knows, who was designated by Mike to be on his official committee. The Democratic Chair informs Mike in his response that "if he believes a violation of law occurred you have recourse to the normal legal processes."

You notice that the individual that the Supervisor talked with did not file any complaint and as far as I know has no problem talking with Supervisor Steve or anyone else. Mike O'Connor wants to bring charges on the Supervisor for reaching out to people for support. Maybe someone will have Mike arrested for knocking on their door or calling them in a campaign. Nahhh, it doesn't work that way. That is why America is free, for now.

Seems like Republican Mike has a good thing going with the Democrat Chairman. A nice line of communication there. I am sure all "tax-cutters" and "conservatives" will appreciate that. As much as they will appreciate Mike driving around with an Obama sticker on his bumper...

QUOTED BELOW IN CUT AND PASTE FORM FROM EMAILS DATED JULY 20-21 FROM SCHEN. BOE

From: Brian L. Quail
Sent: Tuesday, July 21, 2009 11:17 AM
To: M OConnor
Cc: Arthur C. Brassard
Subject: RE: Election Complaint

Dear Mr. O’Connor:

The Board of Elections is a ministerial agency.  Our review is limited to certain matters defined in the election law.   We possess limited jurisdiction pertaining to what appears on the face of documents filed with us.

If you believe a violation of law has occurred you have recourse to the normal legal processes.

If we may be of further assistance please advise.

Very Truly Yours,

BRIAN QUAIL

From: M OConnor [mailto:moconnor413@yahoo.com]

To: Brian L. Quail
Subject: Election Complaint

Brian,

I'm not sure if I have any recourse, but it has come to my attention that at least one person on my vacancy committee was contacted by one of the endorsed Republican candidates earlier today regarding the validity of my filed petition and implied petition challenges were forthcoming.

I don't think it is appropriate for this to happen and am unsure what anyone on my vacancy committee would have to do with impending petition challenges.  I am the candidate.

I wanted to alert you to this perceived misconduct.  Is there a mechanism to lodge a formal complaint if I'd like to pursue it?

Michael O'Connor

WOW ~ I don't know if it's more exciting to read this thread or the No New Tax thread!!

GB ~ I know you seem fixated on Mertz, but from what I hear O’Connor outworked all of the Republican candidates combined!  So, while Mertz may have some friends ‘outside’ Rotterdam, seems to me your bigger problem is dealing with O’Connor.

As for Surhada, an earlier post has it right – he’s more concerned with himself than with the party.  Leaving the county for the town only shows his concern for his own re-election; he’s far from a leader and is clearly just another puppet of Tom and Jerry.  Here’s the catch – he has no political record to run on because he’s accomplished nothing.  Even more entertaining is the defense of Tommasone – his record is exactly why he loses the election – you can run from your record, but you can’t hide.

Here’s the thing GB ~ if Surhada truly cared about the local party he would have worked toward finding a way to fix it and keep all this mess out of the public.  Instead he’s just as bad as them and maybe even worse – he actually conceded a loss in the county to take over a Republican seat.  That’s why he has no credibility.

As for Michael challenging the committee seats?  Is it true that he contested every single committee seat?  Or just certain committee seats?  I would guess the later and chalk the GB accusations up to typical campaign lies and distortions.  Go figure.

Puddy, you’re right on the money – Dems are thrilled!  Republicans are like the basketball team that has five ball hogs on the team, no team work = losers.

GB ~ I am VERY impressed, HOW did you get the very email that Mike sent?  Are you Brian Quail?  As for Mike working with the Dem commissioner, I am not surprised, do you really trust that the Republican commissioner would tell him the truth?  I don't think so, not if he wants to keep his job.

You see, YOU and your fellow Republicans are bullies.  There is no other explanation for YOU getting a copy of that email - the Repub commissioner gives it to you or you FIRE HIM!!!!  These terrorist/bully tactics might work with those jobs that YOU and your party bosses control, but it won't work with Mike!  GB ~ you're nothing more than a puppet.

You guys are scared and you have every reason to be scared.  First, you have to win the primaries, then if there is anything left of you - you have to run in the general election.  I'll say it again, the Republican party has NO LEADERSHIP!

To help in this discussion, I'll make it a point to find out what is going on in town hall and within the Republican in-fighting and bring it to our good friends here on the board for some further discussion.

I believe Paolino beat Joe Signore by 2 votes in 2001.  The Republicans were infighting with Joe, the Dagostino's, the Hotalings, Buchanan, Surahda, DeGeorgio.  The Feds were crawlin all over Town Hall the way they are crawlin all over Northern Jersey.  This is ugly and history will show that the Party whose dirty laundry is hanging out at Capitol Plaza loses.  Stupid is what stupid does.

The leadership of the Republican Party is in shambles and the "charade" called "The Tommasone Administration" is taking on water faster than the Titanic.

I said it months ago; Clean out the Barn you good people of Rotterdam.  Glory days of yore are coming home!  Stick a fork in Steve, he's failed the residents miserably and has to look no further than his own family influence for the demise of his tenure in office.  Would have been better off staying a councilman...like Joe.  Probably would still be working in Albany had he not gotten so nasty and political.  Same Steve from the losing days of yesterday I guess.  Too bad the people of this great Town had to suffer through his vindictiveness.  Go Frank, Bob, Nikki and Matt.  Rotterdam needs you now more than ever.

Wow.  If I wasn’t already motivated, I am now.  Remember when I said rumor was dangerous?

I am reluctant to respond to any of the distortions but fear leaving them stand without rebuttal is worse.  At any rate, it will certainly be my last word on the matter.

A.     The email is in fact, genuine.
B.     The only reason I am disturbed that it has been made public is that GB has purposely intruded on the privacy of individuals I was attempting to insulate.  As I said, I am the candidate – no one else.  If you have a problem with me, come directly to me, I’m easy to find.
C.     What GB fails to grasp is the timing of the email, the event it questions, and my subsequent challenges.  That is significant.  My actions were within election law parameters.  The law writes in a process for challenges that I am following.
D.     There is no mention of Mr. Tommasone in my email to BOE so I don’t know where GB divines his information.  (Maybe he makes it up?)
E.     I have no special relationship with Mr. Quail.  My relationship to him is the same as to Mr. Brassard – I don’t know either of them – and as you can see the response from Mr. Quail copied Mr. Brassard which I welcomed and was fully aware of.
F.     Article 17 of NYS Election Law discusses potential misconduct of individuals involved in an election.  My email was an honest question designed to get clarification on possible recourses afforded by law, if necessary, as a result of what I perceived to be inappropriate contact as described by that article of law.  Beyond that, GB’s assertions are pure fantasy.
G.     Article 6 of NYS Election Law discusses the various aspects of petition challenges, including the process for notification between the candidates and BOE.  It is clearly defined.  My email was intended to ensure the guidelines laid out are followed by all interested parties.

The rest of GB’s drivel I won’t bother to address because it’s just that….drivel.  GB and others have wondered about my ability to “defend” myself against attacks.  Keep wondering.  But rest assured, I’m fully capable and I will continue to do so within the confines of what is spelled out in Election Law.  I made a pledge to stay out of the mud.  I intend to keep it.  If you’d like to discuss real issues with me, I’m available but consider this my last word on this matter.

Ah ~ Mobile ~ that makes sense.  Tom and Jerry would no doubt sell their so-called Republican souls to get whomever elected.  Why else would Republicans be supporting a government takeover of the ambulance service.

Michael ~ I think you guys are right on.  At a time when Obama is pushing goverment takeovers, bailouts and expanding government, YOU are reminding everyone that true Repblicans are conservatives.

Here's what I find even more ironic ~ I don't think there is any doubt at this point that both McGarry and DelGallo are far more conservative than Tommasone.  Also, I understand that Dom Dagostino is supporting DelGallo in the conservative primary (along with the conservative party) ~ Steve is toast.

This campaign is really shaping up.  The Tommasone Republicans in one camp, the Conservative Republicans in another camp, the Democrats in another camp and the Independent Business Democrat backed candidates in another camp.  Seeing how the Dems/Indp Bus candidates are working together and Tommasone Republicans are fighting the Conservative Republicans, I still think the good money is leaning toward the Dems.
