Heard from Buchanan that Mertz is having trouble getting signatures.  LOL  I am not surprised.  The man is hated throughout the town!

Puddy,

Your source was apparently misinformed.  The signatures for Mertz & O'Connor number 520+.  The petitions for the endorsed Republican candidates contain 490+ signatures.  It appears that Mertz and O'Connor outworked the Rotterdam Republican party machine.

For being as hated as some contend he is, John appears to have had no difficulty in collecting more than enough signatures to qualify for the Republican primary.

Yes, Republican assembly and Republican Senate paid staffers from outside the districts did indeed go out and collect more signatures for their employers than the volunteer committee people in the town GOP did. That certainly is true. I also heard that today the GOP candidate Mike O'Connor filed legal objections to each and every republican committee person's petitions so that if successful, there will be no Republican Committee people (who are volunteers) left to run the race for the GOP. So it looks like part of the strategy to destroy the town GOP is in full swing. Perhaps the assembly staffers who carried many of the Mertz and O'Connor petitions will then be in charge, even though several live in Wilton, Rennselaer and Green Island.

Just think, we can have one party from the town to the federal in charge of everything with NO OPPOSITION! How perfectly that works as you can see!

"While Foreign Terrorists were plotting to murder and maim using homemade bombs in Boston, Democrap officials in Washington DC, Albany and here were busy watching ME and other law abiding American Citizens who are gun owners and taxpayers, in an effort to blame the nation's lack of security on US so that they could have a political scapegoat."

Isn't the fact that incumbent Surhada is giving up his seat in at the County level evidence that the Republican Party conceded one party rule?  Not only did Mr. Surhada give up his seat at the County level, he did so to run for the seat held by a fellow Republican at the town level.

I ask you Gram,,,,,,,, Who started the destruction of the Republican Party?

When you sat behind your computer, hiding from the sun, and you as a Reagan conservative did not rise to the occasion of proclaiming a public bid for office, afraid that others might say hurtful things to your family, or try to harm your business, you abandoned not only the calling you held in esteem to your conservative principal- you abandoned the cry of patriots past and present who sacrificed much more than the bruised ego that you or I suffered by debating here. For one cannot second guess or judge what is in the minds of other conservatives that take that minute risk without dipping one's big toe into the cold wet surf. The surf that is not only dangerous to those that dare to swim in it, but the surf that lift's one's own purpose to a higher calling. Public office.

The public trust needs conservatives, the nation in it's whole needs conservatives and yes, even that broken hulk of rhetorical wreckage the Republican party- direly needs conservatives to do more than prognosticate and critique the doings of others, but to roll up their sleeves, get out and put their neck on the electoral chopping block. And of course to not give up when a gruff or corrupt individual or group of individuals seize power, or pass judgment on you, or insult you. THEY are not the party, or the cause. The cause is much bigger than that. It is bigger than me, and you and the bosses. It is to shield and safe guard the future so that the West itself does not fall. For if conservative thought falls and becomes the scapegoat of the radical left down to it's essence as is the trend world wide, I believe that individuality and the concept of God-given freedom will fall in our lifetime. So to walk from this cause in the belief that it is someone else job entirely, or to deflect one's responsibility to public duty with vain excuses while others carry on the fight (to your liking or not) then you have not served your belief system at all.

I say, step up. Organize yourselves beyond this verbal pissing post. I say run for office. Join a committee. Rise. A few good apples, mixed with bad ones can surely make no headway to reverse socialism and the slouch our nation is contorting itself into. But an army of thinkers, willing to work, campaign, knock on doors and spread conservative views by actually engaging? THAT will move mountains, and it just might save the Republican party from destruction. But more importantly it might put that hollow vehicle for intellectual leadership to good use in righting the path we are sadly headed for.

Bradley,

My intel (Mr Buchanan) told me MERTZ was having trouble getting signatures.  The hired guns evidently dont resemble Skippy Mertz so the sheeple just sign, close the door and go back to Dr Phil, Larry King, Ellen, Oprah, Rachel Ray, SpongeBob, CatDog Ryn and Stimpy.     You get the picture Brad..............  Come primary time Skippy Mertz will be living in a pineapple under the sea.... Hehehe

Oh, I am so glad you informed me of this. Mike O'Connor is simply a PUPPET for the left overs from the Tedisco's
Assembly crew! Just what we need....... He just showed his true colors by signing up behind this crew. I and none
of my family members will vote for him or anyone connected to those people. Thanks for the heads up GB!

Are you telling me that the Republican Party isn't going to contest the validity of the signatures on the petitions of O'Connor and Mertz? That's great.  But I thought is was customary to contest each other's petitions.  I guess Tom and Gerry are going to take O'Connor and Mertz at their word that the signatures they collected are legitimate.

Why is the Schenectady County GOP scared of a primary?  Isn't it a healthy a part of the democratic process?  Once party's become corrupted, and those who lead the party stop making decision based on collective philosophical belief of their constituents and start making decisions solely to protect their position of power, it may be time for a change.

GB, please stop with the Chicken Little "the sky is falling" crap.  This is an off year election cycle.  The Republican Party needs to regroup and find its soul, and bring a message and a credible slate of candidates for the 2012 elections.

Contesting the opponents are one thing, contesting each and every committee person's seat is a way to dissolve the committee so that there is no Republican committee, very extreme, don't you think?

Graham,

You confuse me...are you saying YOU then are a candidate for office?  If not, what's your excuse for not "stepping up?"  If you are a candidate, then you really ought to come out from behind the moniker...it's making you look foolish.

If your point about "stepping up" is to be taken seriously, then why do you seem to take issue with me doing exactly that?  I'm not talking about whether you agree with my positions, but you seem to be disturbed by my attempt to run for office because I'm coloring outside the normal party lines.  EVERYONE has a right to particpate in the process according to election law.  I'm merely exercising that right.

Speaking of election law, petition process, and other provisions etc. I didn't write the rules that apply, I'm just trying to adhere to them and I have no reason to make apologies for any actions I've taken yet to date in that effort.

For you, and others, be careful of trafficking in rumor.  It's rarely accurate and always dangerous.
