Ethics!!!! A lawyer calling a lawyer a liar???? Technically they dont lie....they tell half-truths and hope leave the rest to us ignorants
or they assume we are all lawyers......but, as voters we are judges.......

This shows the fear in the dead enders. Unlike the other candidates John Mertz will definitely be on the ballot in November-on the NO NEW TAXES PARTY.

This is not about lying. It's about John Mertz's refusal to "go along" with slamming us with another tax for ambulance service. If the REP leaders campaigned as hard against KRATS maybe we wouldn't be in such a fiscal mess.

Don't matter if it was mertzie or not. The cons are backing all liberal democrats. Now if mertzie was a dem and the cons didn't back him, I'd agree with ya. If ya have an 'r' by your name, you just ain't getting a con vote or endorsement. And mertzie is probably one of the most conservative people you could find, next to littlefield, mcgarry, and oconner. Hell...the REAL registered cons didn't even get as many votes as the dems. Bizarre?

Yup...that's what I call following your party's ideology.

John Mertz still has work to do. He will take hundreds of votes off a couple of Joe's helping the DEMS sweep 3 seats. The only hope for the REPS is Michael O'Connor. This is too delicious.

If nothing else Mertz will be fondly remembered as a founder of the No New Taxes Party.  The NNTP wisely told the dead enders off and will continue to fight. Mertz may have lost one battle but he is far from done.

I think mertzie has done a great job for the taxpayers while on the board. He was the most vocal and the most instrumental during the walmart fiasco....for the taxpayers. He was the most vocal and the most instrumental during the masullo fiasco....for the taxpayers. He was the most vocal when trying to change the way the rpd did business for the benefit of the taxpayers. He is the only most vocal against forming a taxing district for rems....for the taxpayers. He was so vocal within his own rep party, rejecting the 'go along to get along', that his party did not endorse him.

I always found him personable, professional, straight forward and very reachable.  Obviously he'll get my vote. All 4 ONLY will get my vote. IMHO

Cal ~ be careful you are starting to sound like a vindictive, angry, self-serving  person who holds a grudge.  Aren't you the one always preaching about giving people a second chance, understanding the misunderstood?  We all know you are "left-wing" but it would seem to me that your record of helping the needy and less fortunate wouldl portray you as a compassionate person.  If you're hatred toward Mertz is warrented, then GB should feel just as warrented to feeling the same way about you ~ WITHOUT you criticizing him.

Has Mertz made mistakes?  Yes, I am sure he has.   Has Mertz covered Ego's a** and the crew in the past?  Sure has. (Hamburg Street Business Association meeting about two years ago)  But, you have to respect someone who puts themselves on the front line every day in Rotterdam politics.

There has been talk for months that Mertz has been working with DelGallo to take out Tommasone, if so ~ so what?  The Republicans have taken him off their line, he should do whatever he thinks is in the best interest of the town ~ as I believe he has always done.

Now, I don't like the way he goes about his business, but he gets the job done and at the end of the day it's hard to fault the guy for that.  Not saying I am voting for him, but I am not counting him out.

Cal ~ tell us, what kind of person are you ~ really?

I certainly hope mertzie isn't helping fdg. And why would he do that when he is part of the NNTP which includes mcgarry? (doesn't make sense) Hey molly....must be another conspiracy, huh?

With that said, IF mertzie was in any way, shape or form, helping fdg......I wouldn't vote for him. Until I find out otherwise, mertzie still gets my vote. IMHO
