Clubhouse-you and others are way to punitive regarding this issue.  Everybody needs a diversion at work once in awhile.  It actually improves the quality of the work you do produce.

Here's another reason why ST needs to go.  Today just as in prior years, ST was a no-show at the Senior Lifetime Achievement Awards.  Every other Supervisor in surrounding towns (Bethlehem, Colonie etc.) thought it important enough to be there but not ST.  And why not.  Well maybe because it was another year when Rotterdam FAILED to nominate a senior for the award. THAT IS TOTALLY UNACCEPTABLE.  But not only was ST MIA so was Tedisco and Amedore.  And not only were they no-shows but didn't even send anyone as their designee.  With the amount of senior citizens living in Rotterdam, I am sure at least one could have been nominated.  ST IS A DISGRACE
FOR NOT INSISTING ON A NOMINEE.  There has not been a  recipient in at least five years.  The last one being Helen Quirini.  Paolino always participated in the program and any of the festivities following.  No wonder the Reps are down the tubes.  As my grandfather would say "their leaders stink on ice."

FDG will certainly not allow that error to happen again.  He respects people.

Clubhouse is absolutely correct! And cal...there ya go yet again with the liberal bleeding heart BS! Who the hell cares if a politician shows up at an event? I'm sure you are a tonka truck supporter too. The guy who does absolutely NOTHING, but show up at every event to shake hands and kiss babies.

I told ya before cal...I thought you were much smarter and informed on issues. There are so many damn issues being tossed around on this election cycle....and you are worried about who the hell showed up at a 'senior event'????? You have got to be kidding me.

If you are any example of what fdg is going to bring to the table....I can only pray to 'MY GOD' that he loses. But on second thought....that will be about all he will be able to do IS show up at events. Oh for joy...can't wait! POOLS FOR ALL THE SENIORS!!!

Bumble--You must be on drugs.  This is the largest senior event each year.  YOU ARE DEAD WRONG.  The mayors attend, the county executives and Congressmen attend as well as the State senators.  Not to mention the leaders (bishops) of every faith tradition.  There were 49 seniors from the Capital District honored today.  ROTTERDAM DIDN'T HAVE ONE!!!  The only person who is lacking brains here is you.  Reps are losing it everywhere.  This was a huge event and people noted who was missing.  You seemed to be very uniformed on senior issues and what is happening to seniors in this town.  This is why Mertz will never make it.  He's part of the stupid network.  Odd that every other politico could attend but none from Rotterdam or our Assembly district.  SHAME ON THEM AND SHAME ON YOU FOR DENIGRATING SENIOR CITIZENS.

thank you senders!!! Politicians HATE going to these things. ALL politicians! They have told me personally! They go for personal and political gain. Which translates into VOTES!!! Well I, along with many, don't fall for that BS. Really!

Seniors that I have talked to, do not want to be pandered to by politicians. They also do not want to be 'used' just to elevate a politicians career. Believe it or not Cal, they really DON'T have to go out and shake hands, kiss babies and pander to seniors. That's not what 'I' or the taxpayers pay them to do. What the heck do you think, that our politicians are an arm of AARP! You lean so far to the left, that you're gonna fall over!

Come on Cal.  That is called political pandering.  YOU are denigrating the Senior Citizen by using them as political fodder.  YOU are suggesting that Seniors are easily persuaded to vote for a person based on how Eunice is treated, and if the Town leadership nominated somebody for the Senior Lifetime Achievement Award.  Are today's senior so disengaged with the issues that you can buy their vote with a meaningless awards?  Oh yeah...Maybe they are... Todays Seniors are from the selfish boomer generation .

Cal, you're killing me with this crap.  Do you spew this rhetoric at the Senior Center?  Typical liberal politics... Dividing the electorate along racial, religious, gender, age, income class lines.

You people are too damn stupid for me to continue.  This event is done  WITH the political community.  They are sought out by the Senior Issues Forum to be part of it.  The senior s honored are 85 and over.  It's a time to honor "the greatest generation."  Politicos don't "just show up" they NEED to show up.  It is noted when they don't come to honor the people from their district.  This is not pandering like that stupid senior ball that HV and ST and Mertz liked to show up at.  You are all dead wrong on this because you don't understand it.  Just say you made a mistake if you really have the courage of your convictions.  AND NO OF COURSE DELGALLO WOULDN'T BE THERE--HE'S NOT IN OFFICE ST IS.  If Delgallo came that would have been inappropriate.  Jennings was there not Nathan Lebron.  People who are in office have the responsibility to their constituencies.  You are so one sided you just don't get this.

And Cicero--seniors 85 are not from the boomer generation.  Get your facts straight.

ROTTERDAM
Harsh words over debate
GOP rips Democrat running for Rotterdam town supervisor

BY JUSTIN MASON Gazette Reporter
Reach Gazette reporter Justin Mason at 395-3113 or jmason@dailygazette.net.

Rotterdam’s Republican Committee is challenging the qualifications of Frank Del Gallo, the Democratic candidate for town supervisor, after his party refused an offer to debate incumbent Steve Tommasone.
Last month Gerard Parisi, GOP committee chairman, challenged Del Gallo to a series of three debates with Tommasone, claiming Del Gallo was spreading misinformation with his campaign mailers. He said the Democrats’ failure to accept the challenge suggests they are shielding Del Gallo from public scrutiny.
“This guy is basically an unknown character hiding behind these mailers,” Parisi said Tuesday. “We believe they’re hiding him because they know he’s not qualified.”
Bill Cooke, the chairman of the town Democratic Committee, said the offer to debate was disingenuous and accused the Republicans of playing dirty politics. He said Del Gallo, a successful businessman, has made numerous public appearances and is taking his message to the people directly. “Nobody’s hiding him from anybody.”
The two candidates are scheduled to appear during the county League of Women Voters’ meet the candidates night next week in Rotterdam. But Parisi claims the forum, which features all Rotterdam candidates running for office in the town and county, won’t give enough time to the heated supervisor’s race.
Parisi said the forum won’t provide enough of an insight into Del Gallo’s flaws. Among them, he questioned the candidate’s level of education and literacy. “We feel he is uniquely unqualified,” he said. “And if we’re wrong, the debates should make that clear.”
Parisi reiterated his claims in a letter addressed to Cooke Monday. The letter was also sent to The Daily Gazette and several other media.
Repeated messages left at Del Gallo’s business, Del Gallo Country Pools, over the past two weeks were not returned. An attempt to contact Del Gallo in person Tuesday evening at his store off Mariaville Road was also unsuccessful.
When presented with the letter, Cooke said he was “appalled” by Parisi’s claims and disputed his characterization of Del Gallo. He said Parisi appeared to be bent on attacking Del Gallo, whom he described as a decent and honest man who is well liked by the community.
“On top of that, he built a multimillion-dollar business,” he said. “To think he can’t run the town of Rotterdam is mind boggling.”
Cooke said the attacks on Del Gallo show how desperate the Republicans are during the election. He said Parisi’s letter makes him even less inclined to agree to a debate.

Absent from the Gazette article (and apparently Parisi's invitation to debate) is mention of Brian McGarry, the No New Tax Party candidate for Town Supervisor.  Brian is bright, articulate, genuine and untainted by political party influences.  He has run an above the fray campaign by not engaging in the mudslinging that has already characterized the other candidates' campaigns.  McGarry has visited, spoken with and listened to Rotterdam residents.  Brian has expressed his positions on several important issues (e.g., taxes, REMS, etc.) affecting town residents, not hidden from the debate of ideas.  I do agree with Parisi's contention that the voters have heard little from DelGallo concerning his plans if elected.

Tired of the political games?   Vote for Brian.

Parisi is a bully who is afraid that his big bucks job is going to be gone.  His particular type of "lawyering" is what fuels the jokes.   "Uniquely unqualified" would be ST.  In another post I have given lots of reasons why he will go down as the worst supervisor.  Attacking Delgallo in this manner is abhorent to decent people.  For sure McGarry is doing a great job campaigning BUT I would not discount FDG.  You will be surprised how many people will back him because he doesn't have to open his mouth.  He has already shown that he can run business SUCCESSFULLY.  Parisi is a bully.  FDG don't engage in the debate.
