That's is the typical line-they're all the same-plague on both houses-but not true in this County.

County Manager Robert McEvoy was an IND not a REP. He ran a tight ship. There was no Lumpy Kosiur, no unneeded mouthpieces for the Legislature. Ask any downtown business person who was more open and available Mr. Manning, a businessman, or Death Ray Gillen, a lifelong lob.  Are the REPS perfect? No but there is no comparison here. The DEMS in their own words; "understand the importance of high taxes"! Wake up sheeple and dump every County incumbent starting with Judy Dag, and SS Savage.

CHAOS IN ALBANY: GOP Coup Upsets Balance In Senate
Malcolm Smith Ousted As Senate Majority Leader; Dems Turn Off Lights, Cut Internet Power In Attempt To Stop Coup

Paterson Goes Ballistic: I'm Here To Stand Up For Democracy

ALBANY (CBS) ―

Republicans, who lost control of the New York State Senate last November have apparently regained control, and without an election!

The GOP power play involves two renegade Democrats and a billionaire businessman.

Welcome to New York politics.

What happened Monday night in Albany, a coup in the state Senate five weeks in the making, made for a unique kind of drama, pitting Senate Democrats against Republicans.

Out of power? Former Democratic State Senate President and Majority Leader Malcolm Smith.

"Let's just be real clear, the Senate Democrats are still in the majority," said Smith. "Malcolm Smith is still the majority leader."

Assuming those titles in a return to power is Senator Dean Skelos of Rockville Centre.

How did it happen? Democrats can thank their own: Pedro Espada of the Bronx and Hiram Monserrate of Queens, who turned their backs on their fellow Democrats and joined with Republicans.

"I want to thank Pedro and Hiram. I know the difficult votes you did today (Monday) but they did the right thing and I want to thank Tom Golisano who certainly has been a leader," said Skelos. ................>>>>..........>>>>............http://wcbstv.com/breakingnewsalerts/malcolm.smith.senate.2.1036194.html

What I find most upsetting is the illegal Gestapo tactics they employed like turning off the lights and shutting the internet down. Wow, the Sandinista murderers and Castro would be proud of how the Democrat leaders act when they don't get what they want or when things don't go their way! Amazing! However I heard that is how they actually do it at th county chambers here too, so I am not surprised. They learned it somewhere.

Cesear was murdered on the Senate floor......oh my,,,,and Rome was 'fought over' handing out 'grain/money' from the
State store houses to the plebs....those poor poor plebs........then 'The Dark Ages' ensued........

although I am not a Democrat, neither am I a Republican.....but, I fully believe our government always rests upon the shoulders
of it's society......there is a tear in the fabric and loose threads and the foundation is cracked.......

...you are a product of your environment, your environment is a product of your priorities, your priorities are a product of you......

The replacement of morality and conscience with law produces a deadly paradox.

"Sen. Monserrate is as strong as ever; he's not wavering," Espada said, adding that he was having dinner with 10 Democrats who are considering a move over to his side, but he would not reveal their identities. Espada said earlier this week additional Democratic senators were ready to defect, but none have publicly broken with Smith.

CAPITOL
Dissident senator back in Democratic fold Senate split 31-31; power sharing deal sought

BY MICHAEL GORMLEY The Associated Press

A dissident Democrat who helped Republicans seize power in the New York Senate a week ago has returned to the Democratic fold and declared that Democrats must retake the majority he cost them.
“We need to take back the Senate,” said Sen. Hiram Monserrate of Queens, insisting Democrats were united. A seven-day stretch that began with a shocking parliamentary revolt orchestrated by a coalition of Republicans and the two rogue Democrats — Monserrate and Sen. Pedro Espada — resulted Monday in a 31-31 split between the Democratic conference and the uneasy coalition.
In a raucous news conference that was cut short, Democrats refused to answer questions about control of the Senate or their own party with just four days left in the session. ...........>>>>..........>>>>..........http://www.dailygazette.net/De.....0&Continuation=1

Republican coup is all about power and money, not change

Re June 9 article, “GOP grabs Senate power”: Fun times at the Capitol. Big coup. Republicans parading up and down touting big change. Let’s see, has anything really changed?
Republicans were scared and warned that all the power positions were being held by downstate politicians. Upstate will suffer. So whom do they put in as majority leader? The same guy from Long Island who was there before. Long Island is upstate only if you hold the map upside down. [Majority leader] Dean Skelos did nothing after Uncle Joe [Bruno] finally left (good riddance).
The two Democrats they used to pull off this big event are from downstate as well. Oh, and one of them is under indictment and the other is under investigation and can’t seem to keep campaign finances separate from his personal finances. Politicians under indictment and accused of financial mis-appropriations — big change there.
And, you have the puppet master, [billionaire] Tom Golisano. He is a spoiled rich baby who’s not even a state resident anymore, or at least won’t be in a month or so because the Dems raised his taxes. How fitting — we have someone who is not an elected official and doesn’t even want to live here running the state Legislature. A rich guy throwing money around, buying politicians votes and actions. Never have seen that happen before.
Now, we get to go back to the gridlock the citizens of this state voted to do away with not too long ago. But what do the voters know? Why follow what the voters want when, for a little extra pork money or some great committee position, they can do what they want?
And it makes me sick to hear the Republicans say they did it because they want real change, and to get something done. They did it for the money and power. Nothing else. That’s why they all do it. The Democrats are no better. While they briefly held power, they did nothing but the same old things they whined about when the GOP held power.
However, this isn’t about Democrats vs. Republicans any more. This is about the wealthy vs the rest of us. This is about the spoiled rich babies fighting among themselves while the rest of us suffer. It’s time to get rid of all of them and start over. Maybe we can fi nd someone who actually wants to do the job they are elected to do. It’s time to find representatives who will actually represent the people. Remember that on election days to come.

The condition becomes a great deal more critical after June 30, when numerous counties will have to give up collecting sales taxes that have to be approved by the Legislature every two years. This weekend, the counties will be anxious; if this situation pertains for another week, they will be petrified.

Does anyone know if Schenectady County is amongst those affected by this?

New York Republicans acting like poor sports

Why can a Florida billionaire [Tom Golisano] buy our state Senate? Imagine a New York billionaire trying to put money into the Florida Senate. I’m sure Floridians would be up in arms — as they should be.
New Yorkers made a choice last November. They voted for change in the Senate after giving the Republicans 40 years to improve New York. What did the Republicans do with that 40 years? They reduced taxes for the rich and kept school funding unequal and unfair for rural and urban districts.
We all voted to change the leadership in our Senate. We were successful. Now the Republicans try this desperate act. I guess on one level they think we (voters) don’t care and won’t notice. I’m here to tell you that we do care and we did notice. The next election cycle will confirm that.
Everyone should take the time to call their state senator and complain. All voters should take part in the next election and work on elections they believe in for candidates they will trust. Not too many of the current group have my confidence.

Tony it doesn't matter what party is in power they both do the same thing, tax and spend. If you want true change they must all be voted out and replaced with people who will do the will of the taxpayer and stop lining their pockets with gold while the taxpayers gets the shaft.

I'd like to know what the 7734 Al Sharpton is involved in this.  He does not repreent us, he only represents a small extreme group of people.  He is a person who crafted a sick joke years ago which hurt many people.  He calls himself "Rev" but a real member of the clergy he is not.  Ordained as a child which is on par with the trashy tabloids with ads from companies offering a piece of paper that says you are an ordained minister.  He is a college drop out so is uneducated.  The wikpedia site has him quoted as he learned manhood from James Brown...ha.....James Brown?.....Sharpton learned manhood from a guy who couldn't even obey the "til death do us part" and was married 4 times, had illegitimate childen, was a criminal who spent time in prison and who physically beat women....that's where Sharpton learned his manhood?  Pitiful, pathetic

So this is the the guy who is trying to get involved with this senate issue?  Al Sharpton does not represent New orkers, he is not elected nor employed by the senate, nor the assembly, nor anything in the executive nor judicial branch of government.  Trying to have a joint leadership, that is NOT what our state's constitution allows.

While I mostly side with republicans on issues, I'm sorry, but everything previous to this coup was done in accordance with our constitution, wasn't it?  Where in our constitution does it say that if any state elected officials are not happy that they can try to overthrow the leadership without the election process by the citizens of the state?   Obviously, Sharpton getting involved is an indication of this nitwit trying to change things without going through the proper constitutional process.  Sharpton, go back and try to find a church to pastor too.....yeah, where is your church?  What church are you a pastor of?  Guess they don't want you either, huh?

Optimists close their eyes and pretend problems are non existent.
Better to have open eyes, see the truths, acknowledge the negatives, and
speak up for the people rather than the politicos and their rich cronies.

Yes it is. Sen Farley stated that continuing our high sales tax and regressive Metrograft tax are his top priorities! Conservatives aren't what they used to be.

Look for some resolution this week so the sheeple can continued to be fleeced. The best thing would be no resolution and let these idiots go home until Sept. Nobody's safety nor fortune is safe while the State Government is in session.

Actually, it seems like the Democrats who are acting like the poor sports, saying "we should be in power and if we're not, we're going to take our ball and go home."
