I have been enjoying the opportunity to meet with District 4 residents while going door to door for signatures and attending fundraisers and community events during the recent weeks. I have been pleased with and humbled by the overwhelming kindness and support that I have received.
As I speak with Rotterdam, Princetown and Duanesburg residents, I hear the same concerns expressed about excessive government spending, oppressive taxation, depreciating property values, limited employment opportunities, government assaults on personal freedoms, and the increase in crime in our neighborhoods.
I have shared with them my commitment to identify and eliminate unnecessary spending and my pledge to oppose any increases in county property taxes in the first two years of my term. In the out years, any increase should be capped at the rate of inflation. The objective, however, is to find means to lower property taxes so that people and business will return to the Schenectady County to establish their households and their businesses.
I have also shared with my neighbors my pledge to donate one-half of my after tax legislative salary to the volunteer and not-for-profit fire departments and emergency services who serve the towns of Rotterdam, Princetown, and Duanesburg. Though I understand that the greater need by these organizations is for volunteers, I believe that the contribution of funds will support the financial needs of these departments. As a volunteer with the Duanesburg Volunteer Ambulance Corps and the Burtonsville Volunteer Fire Department, I am aware of the costs associated with the purchase of state of the art equipment, insurance, vehicle maintenance, etc. and I support and encourage volunteerism.
With each hand that I shake, I become more motivated to serve the residents of District 4. I hope to work with those from all parties to better represent the needs of and deliver the necessary services to the people of Schenectady County.

It was brought to my attention this evening while obtaining signatures on my Designating Petitions, that one of my opponents is telling enrolled Conservative party members that his campaign is affiliated with mine and that we are "friends". It is apparent to me that this candidate is misrepresenting the facts to gain support of those voters who reside in areas where I have considerable support.
For the record, my campaign is not affiliated with that of any other candidate campaigning for the Schenectady County Legislature. Further, I do not consider any of my opponents to be personal friends.
Beginning this evening, I am informing all who I visit and with who I speak that I am running independent of any party and that my campaign is unaffiliated with that of any other candidate who is running for County Legislature. I will suggest to my supporters that if they are seeking a candidate with traditional conservative values and who will be unbeholden to any party or special interest, that they support only my campaign for District 4 County Legislator. I am the sole candidate who will be accountable only to the constituents.
I would appreciate if my supporters on this forum inform their friends, families and neighbors of the points made above.
I am dismayed that the deceptive campaigning has begun so early in the election season.
My campaign website is now online. On the Issues page, I present my positions on many important issues that confront Schenectady County residents. I offer my candid thoughts and views so that voters may assess the philosophy and ideology that will shape my words and guide my actions when elected to the County Legislature.
My positions on other issues will be added at a later time. I don't expect that all will agree with my stated positions. However, voters will know where I stand and can make their decisions based on information that most candidates don't usually disclose.
