Lottery no longer TV draw

SCHENECTADY Live local televised state lottery drawings won't be back on the air until sometime next month. And viewers accustomed to watching the day's winning numbers on WTEN News 10 may have to look elsewhere once they resume.


After failing to get any takers, the state Lottery on April 20 re-issued its request for proposals, this time opening the process up to area cable stations like Time Warner and Capital News 9, according to Jennifer Givner, spokeswoman for the Schenectady-based business.

The bids to broadcast the day's winning numbers are due back May 11 for a multiyear contract taking effect June 1, Givner said. WTEN News 10's final Lottery broadcast was April 30.

For the time being, the winning numbers for games like the Win 4, Mega Millions, Take 5 and Numbers are available on the Lottery's Web site and online at local news outlets.
