Two men try to take Schenectady toddler

SCHENECTADY Two older men in a white Toyota sedan tried to lure a 2-year-old child into their car in the area of Eastern Avenue this morning.
     
The incident happened just after 11 a.m. and the child's mother scared off the pair, who fled.

The driver is described as a heavy-set white male with gray hair and wearing sunglasses. The passenger was also an older male with black-streaked gray hair, police said.

The four-door sedan had dual exhaust pipes on the right side and the first letter on the license plate was "B", the mother told police.

The Schenectady Police reminded parents never to leave their children unattended in public, Sgt. Eric Clifford said.

What doesn't make sense about this story is why the child was left alone, on the side of a busy street.  TV reports said she went inside to answer the phone.  Just a freak coincidence that these perverts are sitting right there waiting for her to be left alone - that one in a million shot?

I don't think we've heard the end of this story yet.
