Time for voters to send incumbent politicians a message: goodbye

It is time to recognize the magnitude of the betrayal of public trust by legislatures at all levels!
The gang of 535 hogs slopping at the public trough in Washington has completely abrogated their sworn duty to uphold and defend the Constitution. They used the power to tax as a weapon against those who it is politically expedient to vilify. Who will they come after next?
They have approved two consecutive pork-filled spending behemoths which will enslave our children and grandchildren so they could reward their political allies with our money. And now they are seriously considering eliminating the secret ballot for some kinds of elections!
Our state Legislature has been recognized as the most dysfunctional in the nation. State government is not a system of checks and balances between co-equal branches; it is instead run by three men in a room (increasingly, only two) whose pronouncements are then rubber-stamped by the do-nothings in the Assembly and Senate. These overpaid, underworked, corrupt scallywags serve no function other than to spend us into the poorhouse by not paying attention to their duties. Then they gouge the taxpayers with “member item” pork barrel rewards for being lapdogs to Assembly Speaker Silver, Senate Majority Leader What’s-his-name (who is so useless as to be anonymous) and Gov. Paterson.
There is a solution! Throw them all out! The next time you step into a voting booth, vote only for the candidate who is not now in office. Never again return one of these nonrepresenting representatives to office! Seriously, if Donald Duck is the only one running against Sen. Schumer, vote for Donald!
The only way to take back our country and our state from the nest of snakes inhabiting our capitals is to make them fear for their jobs, to make them want to pay attention to us when we say: “We’re mad as hell and we’re not going to take it anymore!”

N.Y. Democrats deserve to be put out of office

The budget process has again shown that it is laughable. The Democrats have shown, again, they are not the party of the people, but the party of greed.
I really hope the voters of New York vote their pocketbooks in the next election, and not their party belief. Vote every Democrat in state office out, and start again. As a lifelong Democrat, I have had it. There is no Democrat in office, in this state, that is representing us. If there were, we would not be on the verge of losing our STAR rebate checks, etc. while the legislators' perks and special interests stay unchanged. Don't the legislators know that they have become the laughingstock of this country — especially when the nation is trying to ease the plight of the middle-class taxpayer.
Talk about greed and avarice; meet the Democratic Legislature and their leaders.

Tom you forgot to mention that there's a number of Republicans who have a tax and spend mentality and have to go along with the Democrats who have the same mentality.

I would agree with your statement.  There are many RINO Republicans who exhibit fiscal irresponsibility.  This includes Senator Farley who has won his reelection bids by large margins.  He has been in elected office for far too long and has IMHO lost touch with average hard-working New Yorkers.  As a constituent, the problem that we are faced with is often that the opponent of the incumbant is even worse in his/her positions.

I have received many mailings from elected officials over the years that cite their "accomplishments".  One that is routinely advertised by these politicians is that they supported the STAR Tax Rebate checks (which we will be discontinued with the 2009 NYS budget).  These mailings infuriate me in that they typically arrive in the mailbox during a reelection campaign and, if this is the primary accomplishment of our NYS legislators, we should dissolve the government body.

Cut state and federal spending.  Cut here.  Cut now.  And stop the charade that you represent the taxpayers when giving us a rebate check that has the cash value of a grocery manufacturers coupon.

RINO == Republican In Name Only

That is, a registered Republican who does not possess traditional Republican values nor support such in votes
on legislation.

Rino's and all incumbent Krats must be chased out. This illegitimate Gov should resign in disgrace. We should start with the School Bored/Budget elections May 19th. Taxpayers must vote NO! and dump all incumbents.

I agree that they all need to be voted out and new fresh blood needs to emerge. If there are no new faces and names out there that will step up to the plate...then we have no choice but to vote out every single one that is in office now. No if's, and's or but's.
