GOV. PATERSON and legislative Democrats have secretly agreed on an $8 billion, two- year tax hike on individuals making more than $500,000 a year that will "sunset" around the time he plans to run for election in 2010, legislative sources told The Post.

Also under intense discussion yesterday as lawmakers rushed to complete a budget by April 1 is a proposal to raise the state's 4 percent sales tax to 4.5 percent the total of which would jump to close to 10 percent in parts of the state with the addition of local sales taxes.

This will result in many people living in NYS that earn $500,000 or more to leave this miserable state for a more tax friendly state which will make the states problems even  worse and lower the tax base. Good move Gov Paterson.

they should tax anything over a 100 thousand at 75 per cent so the rich will finally pay plus the sales tax should be at least 15 per cent so we dont lose the services and for the poor and seniors it should be zero indeed

you cant seriously think $100,000/year is alot? do you know what a gallon of milk cost? get a grip.......$100,000 with kids is piss in
a bucket.
