Why can’t N.Y. have no-fault divorce like other states?

Imagine a world where a married couple could decide to end their marriage based upon mutual consent, through no fault of their own. Call it what you will, irreconcilable differences, unhappy marriage, etc. Any old term will do.
Now imagine where this same couple could contact attorneys, and have a divorce finalized in weeks, rather than months, or years. If you're thinking of New York state, think again.
Currently, New York is the only state that has yet to recognize no-fault divorces. Instead, most couples are forced to file a separation notice, and live in separate places of residences for one whole year.
Barring some terrible event, such as adultery, or spousal abuse, the unhappy couple are more often than not forced to put their happiness and social lives aside until the process is complete — unless, of course, a vengeful ex fi nds out about the other’s happiness, and decides to drag the process out, and to make the whole thing particularly painful and nasty.
Why must New York be the exception? Ours is a state rich in history, governed by laws which are upheld by a fair justice system. Why can't this law be changed? What's stopping this law from being changed? There are too many good people waiting in the wings, waiting to start a new life with someone they love, who are being unfairly asked to put everything on hold until a divorce has been finalized.
It's time to set things right, not only for those going through this painful process, but for those eager to be a part of something new while they're forced to wait for a piece of paper to be signed, stamped and filed. We can do better and we must.

If there are 'no-fault divorces' would that also allow for 'no-fault marriages' or 'no-fault contracts' or 'no-fault negligence' or 'no-fault DWI' or
'no-fault texting while driving' etc etc.......maybe the lawyers and legislators need a 'no-fault edumacation'......ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha.....
that's right NYS already has 'no-fault education' via unions and NYS lotto.....our foundation is a shakin'........

I almost forgot one----'no-fault pregnancy' and 'no-fault termination of pregnancy'......

...you are a product of your environment, your environment is a product of your priorities, your priorities are a product of you......

The replacement of morality and conscience with law produces a deadly paradox.
