did anyone hear about Obama's plan to have the wounded troops' insurance companies pay for their care now? Instead of the the Armed Forces paying for it?

Insane.   Private insurance companies give people hard enough with previous existing conditions.  Hey but doesn't. A soldier work for the govt so tech a private INS company could deny care and say it was a workers comp claim.  But jam sure obama thought of that.

I think the government should pay first, but it would be better if vets could choose where to go.  Aren't they required/limited only to VA facilities.....for the service connected stuff.   I don't have much trust in VA facilities.

But think about somone who had such a service connected something, I wish I could think of a good example.  And let's say the person becomes diabetic which would not be a service connected.  So, they get a good (private) endocrinologist with their employer's plan.

Suppose the vet needed some surgery for this service connected something.  Do you suddenly get a new endocrinologist from a VA hospital who knows nothing about you to treat you for diabetic issues while in the hospital  after surgery?  How about someone who is treated by a cardiologist and is on blood thinners (all unrelated to service.  But then when they need surgery, the issue of blood thinners comes in to play.  Does one's own cardiologist stay involved?   Or do you have to give up your own cardiologist while in a VA facilitiy say for surgery?

What if they have a leg blown off in combat, and the price exceeds the private insurance lifetime threshold in a year, and the family no longer has health insurance after that?

This is a HUGE can of worms, except for the liberal veterans who are going to come on here and tell us that it is a great idea because they are liberals first and American veterans second. When you are a left wing sabotage artist, you always take the leftist leader's side no matter what. Guaranteed. If the soviets said "jump" they jumped. if Obama says 'Roll over" they roll over as if their life depended on it.

If you don't believe me, find out where veterans agencies stand on this. Nothing good can come of this. we are headed to hell with this group of America-haters in office.

I agree with your prediction.  The current Democratic administration is proceeding at the speed of light to eliminate the voices of opposition, to rescind individuals' rights and freedoms, to destroy Americans confidence in capitalism, and to implement policies of socialism.

The approach is to disparage the economy and to demonize those in the private sector.  The latest Obama tactic is to invoke anger at those in the financial sector who have, by his estimation, misappropriated the funds provided to them as part of the federal bailout.  The fault rests with those in government who passed the bailout legislation without placing limitations and requirements on how the money could be used.    Obama, his cabinet members (tax cheat Treasury Secretery), and the ultra-liberal Democratic leadership (Pelosi, Reid, Shumer, etc.) are now threatening to target specific individuals with a 95% to 100% income tax on their bonuses.    Blame for the misuse of funds rests squarely in the laps of those in Congress and the President himself who had no place in private business matters.

Once Obama has destroyed the American economy (which he is working round the clock to do), he will create a government authority to regulate the private sector.  This government agency will dictate how much employees will be paid, mandate that employees join unions, require that all employers contribute to a national health care account, etc.  We are rushing headlong toward socialism.  And where are the Republicans?  Cowering in the shadows.

Obama has invoked 17 Executive Orders in his short time ( < 2 months in office) to undo the policies that many former Presidents (both Democrat and Republicans) enacted.  His rule has become authoritative -- government by decree.

One last item that will provide insight to where this country is headed.  I heard on the radio today that Missouri State Police have received special instructions to be alert to those who drive cars having bumper stickers that express support for Presidential candidate Ron Paul or stickers that oppose the North American Union.  They bulletin that they were provided suggests that these folks may be members of a dangerous militia.  Freedom of speech and democracy are nearing an end.

All veterans, in all branches, whether in combat or not can use the VA. I never had much confidence in the va either, but there have been two recent cases that I have heard of that had an extremely positive outcome. These were life or death matters. They went to the Albany VA, where they said that Albany Med doctors rotate their time practice there also.

The rest of the stories are not so positive.

Veterans Groups Blast Obama Plan for Private Insurance to Pay for Service-Related Health Care
President Obama's plan to require private insurance carriers to reimburse the Department of Veterans Affairs for the treatment of troops injured in service has angered veterans groups who say the government has a moral obligation to pay for service-related medical care.

Monday: President Obama greets veteran Mahdee Abdul Sabir, who led the pledge of allegiance during Obama's visit to the Department of Veterans Affairs (Reuters).

President Obama's plan to require private insurance carriers to reimburse the Department of Veterans Affairs for the treatment of troops injured in service has infuriated veterans groups who say the government is morally obligated to pay for service-related medical care.

Calling it a "desperate search for money at any cost," Craig Roberts, media relations manager for the American Legion, told FOXNews.com on Tuesday that the president will "wish away so much political capital on this issue" if he continues to insist on private coverage for service-related injuries.

Cmdr. David K. Rehbein of the American Legion, the nation's largest veterans group, called the president's plan to raise $540 million from private insurers unreasonable, unworkable and immoral.

"This reimbursement plan would be inconsistent with the mandate 'to care for him who shall have borne the battle,' given that the United States government sent members of the Armed Forces into.................http://www.foxnews.com/politic.....related-health-care/

Obama Drops Controversial Health Care Plan for Wounded Veterans
President Obama will not advance a plan to require private insurance carriers to reimburse the Department of Veterans Affairs for the treatment of troops injured in service.

Veterans Groups Blast Obama Plan for Private Insurance to Pay for Service-Related Health Care
President Obama, after an uproar by veterans groups, has scrapped a plan to require private insurance carriers to reimburse the Department of Veterans Affairs for the treatment of troops injured in service.

"In considering the third-party billing issue, the administration was seeking to maximize the resources available for veterans," White House press secretary Robert Gibbs said Wednesday in a written statement. "However, the president listened to concerns raised by the [veteran service organizations] that this might, under certain circumstances, affect veterans' and their families' ability to access health care.

"Therefore, the president has instructed that its consideration be dropped," Gibbs said.

Obama met with 11 veterans service organizations on Monday and explained his plan to increase funding for Veterans Affairs by $25 billion over five years and bring more than 500,000 eligible veterans of modest income into the VA health care system by 2013.

But the American Legion, the nation's largest veterans group, said the president's plan would have increased premiums, made insurance unaffordable for veterans and imposed a massive hardship on military families. It could have also prevented small businesses from hiring veterans who have large health care needs, the group said.

The American Legion applauded Obama's decision to drop the plan on Wednesday.

"We are glad that President Obama listened to the strong objections raised by The American Legion and veterans everywhere about this unfair plan," Cmdr. David K. Rehbein of the American Legion said. "We thank the administration for its proposed increase............http://www.foxnews.com/politic.....an-wounded-veterans/

No, I have never had to serve in the military. My dad was in the army and fought in the Battle of the Bulge. Along with my uncles on both sides of the family. My grandfathers fought in WWI. My husband was, or as he says, "IS" a Marine. All of which have benefited from not just the VA hospitals, but other benefits for serving.

All of which is irrelevant to the fact that I uphold a great respect for the men and women in uniform. The true patriots of this country. The ones who fought and continue to fight so we can enjoy the freedoms that other countries only dream of having.

No, I never have served in the military, but I have  reaped the veteran's benefits inadvertently by my father gaining access to an education and receiving medical treatment for service related illnesses that lingered long into his old age.

Oh I see...only veterans can support and understand veterans. The non-veterans should remain thankless and quiet while our boys and girls go off to war to fight for them. Funny....all the vets I know are thanful and welcome the non-veterans support and recognition. Wasn't that the big beef during and after the Vietnam War? The lack of support from the so called non-veterans?

Now we do recognize and offer support and you say we have no right. Make up my mind!
