It never ceases to amaze me how government at all levels goes to great lengths to spin the news and use euphemisms or other forms of deception to bamboozle the public.
The second line on your property tax bills says "state, federal mandate" which the County Legislature's Krat majority concocted as a euphemism for "COUNTY TAX". In other words, County taxpayers (a.k.a Sheeple) should blame the feds and State for all County taxes instead of blaming County legislators. Folks complaining to "legislators' about the practice were told ALL area counties use "State, federal mandates" on tax bills.
A quick check of just two Counties-Saratoga and Warren-showed Schenectady County officials were blowing smoke. The others list it properly as COUNTY TAX.

You are correct. They actually had a slide show at the county meeting when they dropped the 9% bomb on all of us. Ya'll remember..the meeting when they wouldn't even listen to the reps. (working together, right?) The one that Lamendola sat behind Petta and talked and laughed during the part of the meeting he attended. (he left early but gave a full report for the gazette the very next morning )

That was just another way for the dems to slide in their increases by blaming the evil state and federal mandates. The dems failed to mention the patronage jobs like Koisur's. Or the millions of failed dollars being thrown at the plex. Instead they go to a gala to celebrate Sch'dys 200th b'day at the Glen Sanders. Did they all bring a guest? Ya know...some one from Hamilton Hill or MT Pleasant? Perhaps if they had, these folks would have seen just how wonderful Schenectady is, huh???

people I know who are in the know tell me that there would be no taxes indeed for the repubs up at the state and Bush didnt do these here things to us which caused us the spending without the money coming in free from the state or federals, now you see over here this is the problem and it cant be blamed on the demos listen FOR ONCE this is it - the federal and state give the orders which came from 8 years of Bush that no - good. Then the repubs at the state did so like - wise and they didnt give us the free money which wouldnt have cost us { the tax payer} a cent or a dollar THEN they demanded we spend the money over here on things. THEN the county had to clean up the mess where the repubs gave GE all that money { more to the rich corporations now } plus all of the other patrionage jobs the repubs had, and my sources say that Lazzarri and Surhad caused a lot of the problems plus the people didnt put the right leaders in who could get the things done with the higher ups there in the state { Mr Spitzer} and guys like Tedesco caused all the problems with them. NOW we have to pay the mandate charge OK??? WHY SO THICK IN THE HEAD PEOPLE WAKE UP! You gotta raise the taxes on the rich and then this here wouldnt be the problem but NOOOOOOOOO YOU REPUBS WANT THEM OFF THE HOOK
A Million dollars? The Krats flushed $3 MILLION down the Metrograft rat hole on the Big Hose alone. It might have been discussed before but seldom has a newspaper printed the unvarnished truth. Schenectady County too small for a County...to big for an insane asylum.
