Bumblethru, I will once again point out that while working for his pension, he was committing terrorist acts. This seems wrong to me. Perhaps a more elegant solution would be to decide at what point in his career he began his criminal activities and from that point on his pension should not be allowed.
As to his co-conspirators, they should also forfeit that part of their pension which was earned while committing their crimes.
We constantly complain about how pension costs contribute to the rising taxes in our communities, yet we allow criminals to collect their pensions? Makes no sense to me at all.
Loki.......we are not talking about giving the taxpayers back raucci's pension. We are talking about giving it to OTHERS....who never worked for it!
And will someone explain exactly how these 'victims' are 'victims'. Was their permanent bodily injury that will need $$$$ to sustain them? Ely walked away with a bundle of taxpayer's money and continues to.......and he was clearly part of the so called terrorist plot.
Typical schenectady.......they pick the winners and the losers!!!

Bumblethru, I found your comments on this issue rather puzzling, so in an attempt to fully understand your position, I went back to the beginning of the thread and read each and every comment and reply. Quite interesting. It appears from the beginning you doubted Mr. Raucci's guilt. In fact, and I could be wrong here but I could not find one comment by you, even when he was convicted that would prove otherwise. Are you related to Mr. Raucci? Are you part of the family?
I agree that others should have been held accountable. But still not one "finally justice has been served" comment from you after his conviction. Do you still feel this way?
I would encourage anyone who has not been a member here for as long as some to go to the beginning of some of the older threads. Fascinating reading. I especially enjoyed the comments of former posters Mars and Thor. And the reply to some of their comments critical of the one sided administration of the site that, "this is my sandbox" was childish to say the least.
I signed on here to have adult conversations concerning the issues of our town. I was greeted with insinuations I was someone else. I have observed childish behavior by nearly all the posters here. Private messages to some have confirmed that this is merely a high school like clique governed in a heavy handed manner by a trio of administrators......the aforementioned site owner, the nefarious Pat Zollinger and I have been informed by some who know you also bumblethru. Disgusting.
There are indeed some knowledgeable and honest posters here who offer good solid information, but the rest are nothing more than chronic complainers with nothing better to do than sit at their computers in a constant whining snit. If misery loves company, than you all have found your ideal companions.
And you bumblethru are the biggest fraud of all, with your over 20,000 posts. What a waste of a human you are.
There is no longer any need for me to be here. I resign.
ok.....but it's ok that these government people have double triple and so on dipping....
The topic of this thread is Raucci.
Not entirely your fault Patches but every thread on this board goes off topic and it's on and on about the same thing no matter what the original poster posted about. It's getting old and it is boring.
A red herring isn't going off topic, it is just a fallacious argument. Good job call patches on it.

DA rebuts Raucci appeal, dispels claim of unfair trial Robert Carney says "defendant's sentence should not be modified" By Paul Nelson Updated 10:29 p.m., Monday, October 22, 2012
SCHENECTADY — Several pivotal rulings against Steven Raucci before and during his 2010 criminal trial were legally sound and did not hamper his ability to get a fair trial, according to the district attorney's rebuttal to the imprisoned Schenectady school facilities supervisor's appeal seeking to overturn his conviction.
In his response, District Attorney Robert Carney makes the case that the physical evidence, eyewitness testimony and confessions by the defendant were overwhelming, and that any errors the court may have made were "harmless" and ultimately had no impact on the outcome.
"The defendant's conviction was supported by the weight of the evidence and should be affirmed," he states in the legal document, which was submitted Monday to the Appellate Division of state Supreme Court in Albany.
Specifically, Carney and his Assistant District Attorney Gerald Dwyer argue in their court papers that the allowance of key evidence, chiefly an FBI video of improvised explosive devices and statements Raucci made to police, were appropriate......................>>>>....................>>>>.......................Read more: http://www.timesunion.com/loca.....55.php#ixzz2A7ZyjNl9
