"government agencies like to avoid embarrassment"? Except in Schenectady Schools where they seek embarrassment. Like moth to a flame. Example-put the last place finisher back into an open seat on the bored. Example-refuse to fire a terrorist even though he is sitting in a jail cell. Example-Casino's have an all age kegger and refuse to resign prompting multiple criminal investigations. Example-come back with a higher tax after the voters defeat the initial school budget. Example-close the best school Howe and throw the students into a Middle School. |

SCHENECTADY Couple’s lawsuit is latest legal action against Raucci BY STEVEN COOK Gazette Reporter
The number of people suing or trying to sue over alleged actions of Steven Raucci is now approaching an even dozen. William and Maria Lane filed a summons last week in state Supreme Court in Schenectady County. The Lanes are seeking damages based on Raucci’s alleged “intentional infliction of emotional distress” and a list of other claims. The filing, however, is unlike others in that it includes few details of the claim or even a full complaint. Listed as the Lanes’ attorney is Nicholas Grasso. He could not be reached for comment Tuesday. Named as a defendant is Raucci, former facilities supervisor for the Schenectady City School District, in his capacity as supervisor of employees and as CSEA district representative. The Lanes’ connection to Raucci is not stated in the filing. Neither appears on a list of school district employees generated in March. ..................>>>>...................>>>>...................http://www.dailygazette.net/De.....r01102&AppName=1

That is the $64K question that I think we kinda all know the answer to. |

SCHENECTADY School board seeks public participants BY MICHAEL GOOT Gazette Reporter
Board of Education President Maxine Brisport is seeking more members of the public to serve on board committees. “Everyone’s involvement is important,” Brisport said at a special meeting last week. These committees work on specific areas affecting the school, such as athletics or academics, and then report back to the full Board of Education. Brisport said she is asking if any staff, parents or community members would like to participate. Brisport is head of the academic achievement committee. She is also co-chairwoman of the policy committee with board Vice President Diane Herrmann. Herrmann heads up the audit committee and will serve as co-chairwoman of the communications and community outreach committee with Gary Farkas. Farkas is chairman of the athletic advisory committee, Jeff Janiszewski is head of the operations and maintenance committee, Linda Bellick is head of the wellness and transportation committees, and Lisa Russo heads up the fine arts committee..........................>>>>................>>>>..............http://www.dailygazette.net/De.....r00802&AppName=1

Schenectady school district needs to go back to the future
I have lived in Schenectady for more than 50 years. My six children were raised here, attended Schenectady public schools, and received an education that enabled them to go to the best colleges and universities. We had a dedicated school board comprising people who were respected in the community and who made decisions based on the best interests of all involved: the children, employees and taxpayers. That is not now, and has not been the case for some time. There is no need to chronicle again the callous and corrupt actions that have led us here; it is now time for all of us — parents, teachers, staff and taxpayers — to act. I have no children or grandchildren even remotely connected with the Schenectady school district, but I do live here and love this city and know that it will never be a good place to live unless we improve the schools. Education is the magnet for attracting families. Schenectady can never prosper as long as its schools do not. I would welcome contact from anyone interested in forming a citizens’ coalition to improve our schools, to discuss how we might take action. We must start now seeking competent persons who have the integrity and leadership talent necessary to change the current atmosphere. If we start working together now, we will see new faces on the board next May.

One of Mrs. Karowe's kids went on to Harvard. All her children went to Howe School. It is disgusting what has happened to this once solid School District. The lack of outrage is also disgusting. We cannot wait until May to see changes. 3 business leaders are already lined up to run in the next elections. They do not have young children in the schools that can be bullied, |
