Newspapers form consortium to share news reports

Five northeastern newspapers, including the Times Union, this morning announced they will begin sharing content, a move that could help the publications cut expenses during a difficult economic time for the industry.

     
The other papers included in what's being called the Northeast Consortium are The Buffalo News, the New York Daily News and two New Jersey papers, The Star-Ledger of Newark and the Record of Bergen County. Details of the arrangement are still being finalized, but the papers say they will enhance each other's coverage by exchanging articles, photographs and graphics.
