Stewart’s recalls ice cream flavor February 4, 2009 at 2:53 pm by Times Union
SARATOGA SPRINGS — Stewart’s Shops is recalling one of its ice cream flavors since it could contain the salmonella bacteria.
Caramel Candy Bar was deemed unsafe after the recall expanded to a more broader range of products containing peanuts. “One of the candy pieces in it came into question,” said Stewart’s Shops spokesman Tom Mailey.
The flavor, which is a chocolate peanut caramel-flavored ice cream with candy bar pieces and caramel and fudge swirls, is only sold at dipping stations in Stewart’s Shops. The flavor is a relatively new addition, it debuted last fall.
If a customer has the flavor in their home, the product can be taken back to the store and returned for a full refund.
Consumers with questions can contact Stewart’s Shops Consumer Affairs at 581-1201, Ext. 2130.
