No cleanliness issues at Sch’dy Econolodge
This regards Kathleen Moore’s Dec. 20 story, “Motels poor option as homeless refuge,” about the Department of Social Services [DSS] and the sanitary conditions at the Schenectady Econolodge. I am a single working mother and grandmother. Due to an unfortunate situation, my kids and I are now homeless. The Econolodge has been our home since Nov. 2008. I was very angry about the DSS client and others who are on DSS complaining about the sanitary conditions at this hotel. Are these people for real? For starters, the person who made this complaint hasn’t said how the staff has had to pound on his door in order to get in and clean. This fellow also had a dog staying there with him. I am so sick of DSS recipients who end up homeless for whatever reason, complaining like they are supposed to be staying at a five-star hotel. The staff has been nothing but good to my children and me — and not only are the rooms cleaned every day, but they also wash bed linens. Instead of these people complaining about how dirty the rooms are, which is straight hogwash, start getting real about how you ended up in this situation in the first place. ANNA DURHAM Schenectady
