I would like to say that whether Tedisco wins or not, this election clearly made a statement. The same district that voted for Gillibrand (D) seem to be evenly divided on their choice for congressman. And even though Gillibrand returned to her district to campaign for Murphy, the race remained incredibly close.
I also see the electorate as becoming more fickle and less tolerant of their elected officials. How could Gillibrand (D) have won this position so widely and yet the Tedisco/Murhpy race be so close?
Perhaps the days of political tolerance are going by the wayside and the days of accountability and performance are on the rise. We can only hope!

look there is one thing to be known here it is that the demos will be the one party that runs the country and the repubs will become the outlaw and outside party and that day is here now so for all of you over here who think that being a repub will get you anywhere when the only really progressive and smart things are done by the demos had better be made to take a warning or two about how things will go over in the future in both this here idstrict and over - all across the country
Hey Sal, look back in history and see what happened after 4 years of Jimmy Carter and his liberal policies and after 4 years of Obama the same thing is going to happen if things don't work out the way Obama is claiming they will.
If find it amazing that the vote came down to 59 votes, then 25 and NOW 6! Those are incredible numbers. A 10 county vote and it comes down to a family of 4.....Just amazing!
I don’t know about other people, but just to let you know, being a Republican, I decided not to vote for Jim Tedisco. I just recently had heart surgery and was recovering at home. Not a chance of that! After putting up with all his countless negative TV ads, I shut off the TV. I then started getting bombarded with phone calls to my home to “get out and vote!” for him (which I was planning to do in the beginning), so I shut the ringer off on the phone. Just when I thought I had won the battle and could get a little rest, I start getting nailed with text messages! I think I loved that the most because at the bottom of the text message it states that “Standard Message Charges Will Apply!” I love it! Now I have to pay for him texting me! And answer me this: With an “unlisted” phone that is on the “Do Not Call Registry,” how the heck did he get my number, anyway? I now really hope that Jim Tedisco loses by just one vote so I can take some satisfaction in knowing that it was my “no” vote that did him in!
Tedisco surrounded himself with a bunch of morons and now he is left wondering why his results were so poor? If your not smart enough to hire competent advisors then you don't deserve to be elected Congressman.
We need to remove the words right or left in referring to parties........it truly adds a layer of personal crap not needed or with any merit.......this way we well actually be able to tell the 'enemy'........

There's APPARENTLY a "heads up" to local media outlets that Jim Tedisco may be making a speech before the afternoon is over. I was just talking to a "contact" (reporter) at a local news station and overheard the alert.
Could this be the concession speech everyone's been hinting about?

Tedisco's statement
Staff reports Last updated: 4:08 p.m., Friday, April 24, 2009
Assemblyman Jim Tedisco (R,C-Saratoga) today issued the following statement after conceding the race for New Yorks 20th Congressional district: "Mary and I would like to thank the citizens of the 20th Congressional district for their kindness, courtesy and patience shown during this extended campaign. This was a closely contested election that perhaps lasted a little longer than anyone may have expected or wanted. But it was important for our electoral process and for the hard-working people of Upstate New York that it be resolved fairly and decisively.
"Earlier today, I called and congratulated Scott Murphy on a hard-fought contest and wished him well as the next Congressman of the 20th Congressional district. I also expressed my willingness to work with him to ensure that the families of Upstate New York are not left behind as our nation strives for economic recovery.
"This was a close campaign every step of the way. Ultimately, it became clear that the numbers were not going our way and that the time had come to step aside and ensure that the next Congressman be seated as quickly as possible. In the interest of the citizens of the 20th Congressional district and our nation, I wish Scott the very best as he works with our new President and Congress to address the tremendous challenges facing our country.
"Finally, I would like to express my appreciation to all the volunteers, staff, supporters and most importantly my family, for their unending support and prayers. They all poured their blood, sweat and tears into this campaign and for that I will always be eternally grateful."

I can't say I'm surprised. He should have won this by a landslide. Even if he squeaked by in the numbers, he still lost what should have been his for the asking.

I agree 100%!
