I think Judy Patrick just said "On Monday, the newsstand price of our daily paper will rise to 75 cents"

Because I don't want her to open a can of whoopass on my virtual self, check this link for yourself
http://www.dailygazette.com/weblogs/editors/2009/jan/08/0108_priceincrease/

Something else about "still producing a local newspaper you can count on for the news of the day" .. but I won't even go there.

She might have also said something like: "I’m an editor, not a salesman, but I think that even at 75 cents a day, this newspaper is a great deal." ...

Personally, I think she should have followed that with a "IMHO" qualifier.

I say go and post comments to let her know how we really feel, why the sales aren't up to where they could be.  Give the honest truth...I did.

Save your money.  The paper isn't worth the time required to read it, let alone 75 cents.

The Gazetto is in a sinkhole and they keep digging. The TU went up to 75 cents at Stewart's so they will quickly follow. Save your chump change. This should lower circulation and ad revenues to new depths.

Will the Schenectady County government "buy" the Daily Gazette with money directed from the Metroplex to "save jobs"?  It's not like
we have an independent press in the area now IMHO.

I don't think .75 is such a huge amount of money for a daily newspaper. I actually think it is fair, especially in these hard economic times. I don't mind paying .75 IF the newspaper outlet was fair and balanced. Was NOT bias. Was NOT and arm of the government. If they  just reported the FACTS without the SPIN!!

And for those reasons, not the price, is why I don't buy the gazette. IMHO

This is not such a bad idea. The Gazetto is basically a misinformation arm of Metrograft/Krats/SACC-TV. Why not drop the facade of "independence" which is a total joke and take a handout. Speaking of dropping facades have you been down State St lately?

If Death Ray can give $3 million in taxpayer money to a gin mill that has not opened and will never open, than give  another taxpayer handout to the Gazetto. Nobody except a few bloggers will say anything. Nobody knows from nuthin and nobody will say nuthin.

Nobody knows from nuthin cause nobody knows nuthin! You surely don't expect the gazette or channel 6 to follow up on issues like the Big House and 'actually' report it, do you?
And nobody will say nuthin, cause if they do...well.....look at what is happening in the case of Wright, screaming discrimination within his own party over Kosiur's created, taxpaid position that Wright was told NOT to apply for. What is happening to our local NAACP? 'It's not nice to fool with 'mother savage'. IMHO

What's 3 million dollars between friends? Besides, its only County taxpayer money. See no evil, say no evil and report no evil. Everyone knows Big Hose and Metrograft are complete flops. Besides the editors at the Gazetto are busy investigating a paper clip contract in Rotterdam. No time to report up on any real stories.  75 cents for the Pravda of local papers? No thank you-rather read the TU for free online.

I am surprised that the Gazette does not offer email alerts with their on-line edition. The TU and other on-line media outlets offer that service. People could sign up for the alerts and receive them via email. There would be a link that would take the viewer to their on-line edition. This would increase their readership, increase their "clicks" and possibly attract more businesses to advertise on-line. Just a thought.

You got it exactly right.  I mean really, all the roads will be paved in gold in 11 days, who needs the First Amendment?
