74% Oppose Taxing Internet News Sites To Help Newspapers
Tuesday, June 08, 2010

The Federal Trade Commission (FTC) is considering several ways to help the struggling newspaper industry, but Americans strongly reject several proposed taxes to keep privately-owned newspapers going.
A new Rasmussen Reports national telephone survey finds that 84% oppose a three percent (3%) tax on monthly cell phone bills to help newspapers and traditional journalism.............>>>>...............>>>>...............http://www.rasmussenreports.co.....s_to_help_newspapers

Let the news papers go out of business, it's obvious that nobody is reading them and people don't depend on them for information like they did in the past. By the time the news paper comes out with the news it's already old news with a slant on the stories that are less than accurate.

what a stupid, insane, liberal democrap scheme to help their puppets in the govt. controlled media.

"While Foreign Terrorists were plotting to murder and maim using homemade bombs in Boston, Democrap officials in Washington DC, Albany and here were busy watching ME and other law abiding American Citizens who are gun owners and taxpayers, in an effort to blame the nation's lack of security on US so that they could have a political scapegoat."

Look back over the last month and see how many posts on this board,  are linked to a local or national newspaper... or their online edition.

If "it's obvious that nobody is reading them" then why are there so many links to newspapers?  It would appear that many on this board rely on a newspaper or their online edition for information that they post every day.

philosophy; that is, the search for a superior moral justification for selfishness.

I won't dispute that. HOWEVER..........like any other private business, I don't think tax dollars should go to support private business. This recession has hit every business HARD! Some will survive and some won't. That's just the way it goes.

Taking money from a profitable organization like the Drudge Report to fund failing news papers is just plain theft by the government to keep the papers who support their views in business, redistribution of wealth at it's best.
