By: David A. Patten Roland Burris, the former Illinois Attorney General named by Illinois Gov. Rod Blagojevich to fill the vacant Senate seat of President-elect Barack Obama, has a documented history of making substantial donations to Friends of Blagojevich, the very campaign organization that federal prosecutors charge Blagojevich used to put Obama’s seat up for sale to the highest bidder.
According to Illinois State Board of Elections records, Burris donated $1,000 to Friends of Blagojevich on June 27.
On Oct.22 of last year, he donated another $1,500.
The records also show that Burris’ company, Burris & Ledbed Consulting, Inc., a government relations, media and political consultancy firm, made two donations totaling $4,000 to Blagojevich’s campaign on March 13, 2006, just as Blagojevich’s gubernatorial contest was heating up that year.
Blagojevich and Chief of Staff John Harris were arrested earlier this month for allegedly trying to barter or sell the Illinois U.S. Senate seat recently vacated by Obama.
“Gov. Blagojevich has taken us to a new low,” U.S. Attorney Patrick Fitzgerald said at the time. “This conduct would make [Abraham] Lincoln roll over in his grave.”
Authorities say Blagojevich, 51, and Harris, 46, conspired to commit mail and wire fraud, and solicited bribes.
Blagojevich is one tough son-of-a-gun, if I ever saw one. If he goes down, he will go down scratching and clawing. But ya know, I find it hard to believe that he is the ONLY govenor who tried to sell a seat. He just may have some dirt on others...who knows! Time will tell!

SPRINGFIELD, Ill. — Gov. Rod Blagojevich was impeached Friday by Illinois lawmakers furious that he turned state government into a “freak show,” setting the stage for an unprecedented trial in the state Senate that could get him thrown out of office. The 114-1 vote in the Illinois House came exactly a month after Blagojevich’s arrest on charges that included trying to sell Presidentelect Barack Obama’s vacant Senate seat. The debate took less than 90 minutes, and not a single legislator rose in defense of the governor, who was jogging in the snow in Chicago. Later, a defiant Blagojevich insisted again that he committed no crime, and declared: “I’m going to fight every step of the way.” He portrayed himself as a victim of political payback by the House for his efforts to extend health care and other relief to the ordinary people of Illinois. “The causes of the impeachment are because I’ve done things to fi ght for families,” the 52-year-old Democrat said at an extraordinary news conference where he surrounded himself with some of the people he claimed to have helped, including a man in a wheelchair and a transplant recipient. He took no questions. Blagojevich becomes the first U.S. governor in more than 20 years to be impeached. Arizona’s Evan Mecham was impeached, convicted and removed from office in 1988 for trying to thwart an investigation into a death threat allegedly made by an aide. No other Illinois governor has ever been impeached, despite the state’s storied history of graft. Blagojevich’s immediate predecessor, George Ryan, is behind bars for corruption, and two earlier governors also went to prison. The Senate trial is set to begin Jan. 26. While impeachment in the House required only a simple majority, or 60 votes, a two-thirds vote would be needed for conviction in the 59-member Senate. During the House debate, lawmakers complained that Blagojevich had made a laughingstock out of the state. “It’s our duty to clean up the mess and...........http://www.dailygazette.net/De.....amp;EntityId=Ar00202
I watched what he had to say over there and after hearing the good things the man did for the elderly and poor and kids and that there I think there must be plans from the repubs to get him and co -incidentally this investigator is indeed working for that Bush and the adminsitration over here so it could all be a set - up against the man. You need to judge him on who he has helped and cared about people
He tried to 'sell' a senate seat....they have it on tape......it's illegal......plain and simple!!! That defunks everything he did before that in my book. And besides, if he goes to prison, he'll hopefully get a hair cut! Scum bag! IMHO
