Sorry if this is posted elsewhere, but I was not able to find anything on it....
Does anyone know if the town is going to pickup tree limbs this late in the year? I see alot of neighbors putting their tree limbs at the curb. I've looked on the official town website, and they only reference that pickups will continue as long as "weather conditions permit"' nothing along the lines of a special announcement. I can't find anything on the local news web sites. |

Maybe a call to town hall is in order on Monday to find out their plans. |

I know some folks who live in the city of Schenectady, and it is the home owner's responsibility to cut down and dispose of their own trees. They are paying people to do it if they can't do it themselves. |

I talked to a gentleman this morning who is cutting and removing downed trees in the city of Schenectady. He said that the homeowner is responsible for the cutting down and disposing of the limbs/trees. He also suggested that everyone should check with their own local government because they could be different from town to town. |

Thanks for the replies everyone. I received a response from the town. It looks like they'll be picking up in Rotterdam for a while...
Mr. McCabe, Just bring them out. We have four crews and we will be picking up storm debris everyday and possibly on the weekends too. Thanks, Jim Longo

Will you be picking up tree branches if they are put at the curb this weekend? Thanks! Scott Curry Rd

Here is a sample of cleanup rules in the Capital Region. For more information, check with your private hauler or town or city department responsible for trash removal................http://timesunion.com/AspStories/story.asp?storyID=750756

I find this despicable. Where are homeowners in the city going to dispose of massive amounts of tree limbs? Will they just bring it to neighborhoods like Rotterdam, Scotia and Niskayuna where there's "free" pickup? Or will they dump them in areas like Central Park, over the cliffs on 890? Residents have to not only find a place to get rid of them, but then have to transport them (maybe multiple trips) - or pay a tree service to come in and remove them.
Hiring a tree service in the city is a luxury not many homeowners can afford after getting $ together for their big upcoming tax bill.
The city will pickup leaves and twigs in brown paper bags - but when there's a natural disaster, they can't chip in and help out the residents? Unbelievable.
Thank you Rotterdam, Niskayuna and Scotia for helping your residents. I don't know what the policies are in the outlaying towns (Rene?) Mayor Stratton, Carl Olson, you should be ashamed of yourselves.
Looks like Schenectady is also picking up... http://timesunion.com/AspStories/story.asp?storyID=750756 |

• City of Schenectady: Debris should be at the curb. Cleanup continues indefinitely.
This is going to be a difficult venture since we are suppose to get some measurable snow wed.. Well at least that is what they are saying today. |

Well, then I retract what I said - I'm glad they're stepping up to the plate on this. |
