Several months ago, the legislature and Gazette touted a new prescription drug benefit card for all residents of Schenectady, that was going to be distributed or mailed to everyone very soon (at no charge) by a NY City company. As I remember, it wasn't "insurance" but more of a group buying "discount" card.
Does anyone remember the details? I'm pretty sure there was a post here about it, but I can't find it - nor have I heard of anyone receiving this "benefit"
Any ideas?

I haven't, but I can check with the wife (a pharmacist), who may know more...
In other action, the Legislature signed an agreement with ProAct to help the pharmacy benefits management company distribute a discount prescription drug card.
ProAct is not health insurance but is instead a free program that offers a discount of up to 20 percent on all brand medicine and up to 50 percent on all generic medicine, according to the New York State Association of Counties. The association’s board of directors has endorsed the program, which is in effect in 11 other counties in the state. Kinney Drugs started the pharmacy benefit program three years ago.
The company will mail the benefit card to residents. The card can be used at all major drug chains.
Yeah, this will give me more to go on. BUt AFAIK, or have heard, these don't actually exist, or at least have not been used, but I'm far from sure about that. As I said, I'll check with her, and see what she knows.
It got great soundbites! Who cares if it wasn't really real. Nobody should ask any tough questions, it is negative.
"While Foreign Terrorists were plotting to murder and maim using homemade bombs in Boston, Democrap officials in Washington DC, Albany and here were busy watching ME and other law abiding American Citizens who are gun owners and taxpayers, in an effort to blame the nation's lack of security on US so that they could have a political scapegoat."
OK, here's what I've been told: So far, no one (at least at CVS) has been told about this. Of course that means nothing in and of itself. Just means nothing has come through the corporate channels. Given the time frame of when this was agreed to (October), the likely situation is that the program begins the 1st of the year (Jan 1 2009), and as such, cards would be mailed about now. So, check your mail in the next month or so. They're probably being mailed out in batches, so it will be wave after wave of them going out.
