When I saw the television commercial for Uncle Sam's Candy in Schenectady I thought they must be new. Then I saw their print ad in Capital Region Living, where it was noted that they were voted "Best Chocolate Shop in the Capital Region."

By who, I wondered. And, more importantly, as a hardcore chocolate lover -- why hadn't I heard of this place before?

Uncle Sam's Candy has actually been around for decades and was in fact recently voted Best Chocolate Shop by... Capital Region Living readers. It's really easy to find -- less than five minutes past Mohawk Commons, just off Rt 5 in Schenectady.

A chocolate lover that doesn't know about Uncle Sam's on Upper Albany Street? Gimme a break. Best candy shop in the area. Maybe this says as much about advertising in Capital Region Living Magazine? Get all your Christmas treats only at Uncle Sam's.

Best chocolate anywhere.  My father begs me to buy it and send it to Arizona.  It's a long summer for him without Uncle Sam's...I don't dare send it to him during the hot months.  You'll love it MT, believe me.

For the past several years, I have purchased boxes of candy from Uncle Sam's for gifting at Christmas.
I order additional boxes for those visitors who stop by the house with gift in hand for who I had not
purchased a gift.  I keep the boxes wrapped and stored to avoid such an embarrassing scenario.  I also
give the chocolates to those who provide services (mail delivery, trash pickup, teachers, etc.).  The chocolates
have never disappointed.

yeah, and you are liable to pay twice as much somewhere else for stuff that turns up in the super market or the chain store. Online chocolates usually run 20-30 bucks per pound these days!

"While Foreign Terrorists were plotting to murder and maim using homemade bombs in Boston, Democrap officials in Washington DC, Albany and here were busy watching ME and other law abiding American Citizens who are gun owners and taxpayers, in an effort to blame the nation's lack of security on US so that they could have a political scapegoat."

I'll remember this if I stop by and get handed a little pre-wrapped gift.  Thanks for thinking of me, Brad.

Uncle Sam is no secret to most residents. Can't believe that anyone would by stale chocolates on line. Great bargain-until opened.

It's wonderful to have many award winning businesses in this County; Gershon's Deli, Ferrari's Italian, Uncle Sam's Candy, etc. Great to see private enterprises succeed because of hard work and not governmental largess. Try a pizza or hot wings Down South or in Arizona.
