Republican party leaders are overjoyed with the vote total posted by Assemblyman George Amedore in beating Democrat Mark Blanchfield.
Amedore piled up 62 percent of the vote (28,179-17,389) in Schenectady and Montgomery counties. Thanks to former Assemblyman Paul Tonko, Democrats had a lock on the 105th District seat for more than two decades. But Tonko's retirement to lead a state authority cleared the way for a Republican candidate. (Tonko was since elected to Congress.)
Amedore's breeze was reminiscent of Tonko's huge plurality wins against various GOP opponents.
Amedore was helped twice by the Democratic braintrust's sloppy campaign tactics. Poor issues helped bring down Ed Kosiur two years ago and ditto Blanchfield this past Election Day.
Democrat leaders, realizing they blew the election for Kosiur, wound up creating a nice $80,000 job for him. For the same reason, political pundits guess Blanchfield will land a state job.
WOW...great job TU and Marv!!! You would never read this in the gazette. Marv calls 'm as he sees 'm! Good job!
