Until today I never noticed an E85 gas pump in the Schenectady area. This one was at a Cumberland Farm on Duanesburg Road in Rotterdam across from Stock and the Price Chopper warehouse. E85 is 85% ethanol and 15% gasoline and can be used only in flex-fuel vehicles. Regular gas there was $2.30/gal. and E85 was $2.09. Ethanol has less energy than gasoline (fewer mpg in most flex-fuel vehicles) but has the virtue of costing less and being American-produced rather than OPEC-exported. Some people may not know which vehicles are flex-fuel and where to get E85. This info is available on the internet: E85 --http://www.e85refueling.com/locations.php?resultpage=1&state=nyNew%20York, and flex-fuel vehicles--http://www.e85fuel.com/e85101/flexfuelvehicles.php?topic=For%20Fleets. So here's my heads-up for people who live in or around Rotterdam. |

Thanks. Also, there's supposed to be a report on one of the local stations (Fox 23) tomorrow night how the ethanol is ruining engines. |

What happened to the big Ethanol push? It appears that now that gas is below $2/gal, there is no urgent need for 'corn fuel',huh? |

I have posted that I had a 1985 El Camino 5.0 ( 305 hp )- that I drove during " hard times " in the early 90 s- It ran on almost anything- no modifications- Laquer thinner, denatured alcohol, MEK, Acetone. It did run a little rough on regular paint thinner though. I finally drove it to Mississipi- sold it - |
