A more straightforward column title, please

On Oct. 27, you published Charles Krauthammer’s column under the heading, “Give me McCain or give me death.” I wonder who decided to put that title, an awkward play on Patrick Henry’s famous declaration, atop Krauthammer’s piece.
The syndicated column has been available online for a few days, originally appearing in The Washington Post under the simpler and more straightforward title “McCain for president.” Should Obama win, which appears likely, Krauthammer will no doubt stop far short of death or revolutionary impulses.
What could be the reason behind an editorial decision for such a peculiar title?
