We've never had a trick or treater. Rt 7 by Schalmont School. No one would dare walk down this street at night.
Funny you should mention Colonial Manor Shadow. I was telling my kids that when I was growing up, that is where we always went on Holloween. I had 2 aunts who lived there. We loved going through that area. They always gave out the best candy. I remember one house that had a large bowl of pennies. And we were allowed to take one handful each. We thought that they must be very rich!
Colonial Manor usually has a lot of trick or treaters if there is going to be a big turn out but tonight there weren't that many and the ones that were out were all well behaved and just having fun.
MERRICK, N.Y. (AP) -- Police say a Long Island man was struck and his home robbed after he answered his front door to three costumed men - including one dressed as Superman - who were pretending to be trick-or-treaters.
Police say the Spanish-speaking men forced their way into the man's home on Girard Place in Merrick Friday night and bound him. They say he was struck in the head and that the suspects took off with cash.
Police say the victim was able to free himself and go to a neighbor's house for help.
The Halloween night home invasion is under investigation. The victim was treated for a minor laceration to the head.
I think we ended up with about 15 or so total, about 1/3 of what we had last year. Lots more home parties this year, and of course the colder weather kept many kids off the streets.
