I wont deny you that statement Sal--It's a no-brainer.....but, folks needing help is in the eye of the beholder....both from the helpee
and the helper.....WHO gets to draw that line is what we sort of vote for/against.....everyone thinks they need more help than
the next(or less in some cases).....

The fact remains that I cant afford a Democrat and I cant afford a Republican.......and they sure as hell cant afford me.......

...you are a product of your environment, your environment is a product of your priorities, your priorities are a product of you......

The replacement of morality and conscience with law produces a deadly paradox.

Socialism is already happening in America

First published in print: Monday, November 3, 2008

For all those people saying Barack Obama is promoting socialism, what do you think paying taxes is? Taxes take money from you and redistribute it.

What do you think the government bailout is? Redistributing tax money, government money, to other places.

A form of socialism goes on all the time in this country.

Obama wants to grow government even bigger and make the country more socialistic than it already is.

Obama is promising to tax a certain segment of society....the wealthy!  THAT is socialism/marxism.

If that's true, how exactly does that hurt you?

The rich are the CEO's that run most of our businesses, if you raise their tax rates all that's going to happen is that we the people will be paying more for our goods and services. We'll be paying more for food, gas, electricity, and a whole lot more things. Trickle down in reverse.

Marx believed that the problem with the socialism of his day was that it did not deal with economic issues. He proposed that his new (communist) economic system, which called for redistribution of wealth, was more equitable. But it is clear that this system does not work either, at least in part because it requires people to be altruistic. Unfortunately, working for the benefit of others over the self is not in harmony with the current state of human nature.

Basic services redistribute the wealth

First published in print: Tuesday, November 4, 2008

Let's stop twittering about redistribution of wealth ruining our country. We hear nothing about it when we pay high prices for sugar to benefit the sugar growers. Nothing when we limit steel imports for the steel producers, nothing when we tax lower incomes disproportionally to pay for Social Security benefits, nothing when helping the powerful getting richer at the expense of the rest of us.

Any government that provides defense, education, highways, airports, medical care or social security is redistributing wealth. These are necessary activities, not the end of the United States as we know it.

Mr. Miller is clearly one of the many mis-informed! Sorry to say! It is NOT the distribution of wealth. It is taxation with representation!

Obama wants to just tax the rich and wealthy. Which by the way started at $250,000/year and is now down to about $120,000/year. Obama is a Carl Marx reincarnate.

That $250,000 seems low to increase  the taxes.  Half million would be better.

Really they need to increase taxes on the rich companies like Walmart who are so cheap that we subsidize their employees.

And stop pork, why should Nascar get money from that Wall St bailout?  Nascar isn't a bank.  I like the races but this was ridiculous.

Now how about this.  There are couples out there, with their families, got go help whatsoever.  No extra child tax credits.  They paid out of their own pockets for child care, no reimbursement from anywhere, couldn't pay for it with pre-tax dollars, no subsidy from any level of government.  No special tax free savings accounts for kids tuition.  "Tuition funds" were merely deposited into a bank and then the interest was taxed.

People scrimp and save and sacrifice during the years raising families.  Finally the last child graduates and it's time to do repairs to the house that have been put off.  And finally they can start saving for their own retirement and golden years.

WHOA!   All these new tax credits and stuff for college savings, for child care, etc.  New tax breaks, etc.   But wait, there's the couples who missed out on all these giveaways because they became empty nesters simultaneously with the start of all the new giveaways.  So now, instead of being able to put money away for retirement, they'll have to pay to subsidize all the recent new tax credit programs, and BO's programs too.

Many of us will soon wish we were born 10 or 15 years later

Optimists close their eyes and pretend problems are non existent.
Better to have open eyes, see the truths, acknowledge the negatives, and
speak up for the people rather than the politicos and their rich cronies.

YUP.....that is correct....NASCAR got a sweet bail out deal with our tax dollar. Funny how they will spend tax dollar to an organization such as NASCAR and yet will turn around and tax the hell out of any one of them who makes anything over $250,000. AND that is if that's the real amount to be taxed!!!
