So Ock, I see that you are in favor of 'redistribution of wealth', huh? Capitalism has been compromised so let's just flush it down the crapper, take the money from those rich bastards and spread the wealth to all of us working, slaving, victims of corrupt capitalism. Ya, that's it...we'll show 'em!

Sure, that's what I really want to do...give up my capitalist life for a socialist life and all because of those bastardly 5%! And then there will be no more wealthy people...right? Promise?

Funny, but I don't recall entering any of that on this board except the part about capitalism being compromised. The rest of that is you making up words for me, deciding how I think, and then broadcasting it as though you had some secret access to the thoughts of others - in other words, a falsehood.  It's only a suggestion, but consider relegating that practice to candidates and the like who are too busy at the moment to deal with trivial lies.

CICERO is very very very correct----it's nickels and dimes at best that wont even purchase those nice eggs from China and that fabulous baby formula
and that flame retardant clothing from madagascar.....hand outs help no one,,,,not even me......people are where they are because they are where they
are.....can Mr.Obama change the socioeconomic classes???....he cannot, Mr.McCain cannot nor can anyother democrat or republican

BUT,,,,,,,THOSE THAT SET THE SCALES, WAYS AND MEANS AND SIT ON BENCHES OF JUDGEMENT CAN.......as for the legal beagals, yeah, well, compromise
is deep.......

when someone figures out the difference between wants and needs let me know......here's my credit card or, I mean my tax return for redistribution

Well, Senders, actually there are a couple of ways to distinguish ‘wants’ from ‘needs,’ at least in the world of engineering and design, and the majority of them are transferable to daily life.

In engineering, if a measurement cannot be associated with a ‘need’ then it becomes a ‘want.’  This gets a little tricky.  The one overriding exception to this rule is when something is absolutely essential, but cannot be measured, and luckily, there aren’t too many of those critters.

A basic example is to say that you ‘need’ air (to live).  Those last two words set a conditional parameter of sorts; do you really ‘need’ to live?  As I’m in favor of your living on, then I’ll agree, but I’ll also add that a number of critical measurements have been left out.  You see, you can’t have just any old air, and that’s where the measurements come in.  For you (and most of us) that air has to contain at least 16% oxygen – first critical measurement.  Then the rest of that air must be made up of benign material; say nitrogen.  Here’s where the real measurements begin.  Now you must define how many parts per million (or billion) other items are acceptable in that air.  For instance, only zero parts per billion of micro-particulate plutonium is acceptable, as one microgram of plutonium inhaled causes lung cancer 100% of the time, unless something else kills the host off first.  From there the list of ‘acceptable pollutants’ rises in count, each and every one being capable of making the air unacceptable, and each a measurable item.  So just by changing the ‘need’ statement to, “I need acceptable air,” you set up a measurement conditions, and it is indeed a need – not a want.

The discussions along the want v. need line get convoluted and esoteric at times, and have now and then led to interesting, albeit often boring, discussions and/or arguments.  However, the fundamental premise remains.

I need a house that I have worked and paid for in a community that uses my tax/levy to build roads sewers lighting police firemen to build the community
and I dont want what I have worked for and established myself as an honest taxpaying citizen to be handed out to those who already receive
what is called tax refund when in fact it was never a refund but a refund with a rebate attached after filling out their taxes....I do want/need folks to learn to fish and take the time to measure the plutonium in the air so they too can see the difference and learn about conditional parameters....like
when to say no to those holding the ratings/loan services.....

just like you stated Ock....convoluted and esoteric the conversation gets....too bad we weren't just those simple single atoms.....a single atom
is harder to split than the mind of man.......

Yes, it did, along with the whole democrat leadership in congress. Bush is no conservative.

It's not a redistribution of $700 billion from one class of people to another.  Congress didn't change the tax code to take $700 billion from say middle class people and give it to banks.  It's a $700 billion dollar debt incurred by everybody in the country.

Obama wants to raise taxes on the top 5% of wage earners or the rich, and give refunds to those 40% who don't contribute to federal income tax at all, which translates into extra unearned income.  Taking from the haves and giving to the have not's, or Robin Hood.

I don't agree with the $700 billion bailout, I'm just contrasting the differences between redistribution of wealth from rich to poor, and the whole country bailing out the banking industry.

I have to agree Bumble, neither one will do any better and no matter who wins I fear we're in for hard times ahead.

Be careful what you wish for Sal you may just get your wish and you might not like the "changes" Obama will make with the help of Pelosi, Reid, Frank, Dodd, and the rest of the liberal Dems in Washington.

None of them are conservatives in the sense that we use the word.....redistribution of wealth happens all the time when the lending rules change
the tax codes, the state mandates, the fed mandates etc.....
