When I came upon this article, I shared it with a friend. The exact response I got was, "I have to say that I am disappointed and heartsick over the erosion of what I always saw as Mr. McCain's greatest asset--his integrity, dignity and probity." And that pretty much says it for me too. I've spent a long time admiring McCain's dauntless pursuit of the 'right' way for office seekers and holders to behave.
Just leaves one in awe of the millions spent while the rest of us scramble to put food on the table, pay for healthcare and make mortgage payments. Show me the integrity and dignity in flaunting that in the face of "middle class" Americans.
Ah. So Obama is 'flaunting' in this? A legitimate campaign expense somehow 'flaunts.' Is there any campaign expense that does not do the same then? One would gather that $210,177 is somehow below the 'flaunting' threshold. Is that correct MT?
–verb (used without object) 1. to parade or display oneself conspicuously, defiantly, or boldly. 2. to wave conspicuously in the air. –verb (used with object) 3. to parade or display ostentatiously: to flaunt one's wealth. 4. to ignore or treat with disdain: He was expelled for flaunting military regulations.
Reading your last post, I'll go out on a limb and assume you are defining the word 'flaunt.' It is suggested, but not said. That's an interesting stance. Exactly then where is the dollar line divider between $210.177 (which shoots up to $360.177 if Palin's wardrobe is included) and $437.144? One would gather that you have this demarcation line firmly etched somewhere, so could you share that figure with the rest of us please.
In fact, it is preposterous if not imbecilic to call expenses for Food/Meetings 'flaunting' and do so in defense of the money spent on Palin's, and it seems McCain's physical appearance(s). Absolutely absurd. It reduces credibility to shards.
Read this: nothing previously posted here as yet so perfectly defines hypocrisy in so absolutely a self-contained manner. There's a definition you can live with.
Hey...they the reps are doing what obama is proposing to do when elected....SPREADING THE WEALTH!

Go placidly amid the noise and the haste, and remember what peace there may be in silence. As far as possible without surrender be on good terms with all persons. Speak your truth quietly and clearly; and listen to others, even to the dull and the ignorant, they too have their story. Avoid loud and aggressive persons, they are vexations to the spirit.
If you compare yourself with others, you may become vain or bitter; for always there will be greater and lesser persons than yourself. Enjoy your achievements as well as your plans. Keep interested in your own career, however humble; it is a real possession in the changing fortunes of time.
Exercise caution in your business affairs, for the world is full of trickery. But let not this blind you to what virtue there is; many persons strive for high ideals, and everywhere life is full of heroism. Be yourself. Especially do not feign affection. Neither be cynical about love; for in the face of all aridity and disenchantment it is as perennial as the grass. Take kindly the counsel of the years, gracefully surrendering the things of youth.
Nurture strength of spirit to shield you in sudden misfortune. But do not distress yourself with dark imaginings. Many fears are born of fatigue and loneliness. Beyond a wholesome discipline, be gentle with yourself. You are a child of the universe, no less than the trees and the stars; you have a right to be here. And whether or not it is clear to you, no doubt the universe is unfolding as it should.
Therefore, be at peace with God, whatever you conceive Him to be. And whatever your labors and aspirations in the noisy confusion of life, keep peace in your soul. With all its sham, drudgery and broken dreams; it is still a beautiful world. Be cheerful.
Strive to be happy.

I've read this before...years ago and really liked it. I forgot all about it actually. Thanks for resurfacing it again.
