The purpose of this thread is to engage in meaningful discussions between adults throughout Rotterdam/Schenectady. Notice, I said "adults" ... so TRY to keep it on topic and not get into personal bashing of anyone/anything.

Q. What ONE thing would you like to see happen in Schenectady that would make a positive impact on the community, and how can it be accomplished?

I looked outside today and saw an older neighbor raking leaves.  She was "of advanced age" and I kinda felt bad that she was out doing it, while kids were across the street playing and laughing, having a good time.  I went over and raked the remainder of her yard and put it into paper bags. It took no more than 30 minutes for me to do it, and as she went inside to get me a couple dollars to thank me, I told her that's not the way neighbors worked together. I suggested that she go inside and make a desert for another family, or save that $ for her heating bill.  I swear the lady almost cried.

I think, if more people would help out their neighbors, Schenectady would once again be a great place to live.

What would you do?

How about reminding the young boys to pull up their pants so we don't have to see 3/4 of their green and black flannel boxer shorts. We could also remind them that wearing clothes that actually fit is also fashionalbe.
I know, I'm showing my age, huh?

I also agree with MT's suggestion. I believe in "PAYING IT FORWARD". If someone does something for you, pay it forward by doing something for someone else.

I like it MT.....our churches have failed to 'bring this home'.......JMHO.....but, there is a feeling of narcism maybe because of 'reality tv' and the media
pounding the masses......

...you are a product of your environment, your environment is a product of your priorities, your priorities are a product of you......

The replacement of morality and conscience with law produces a deadly paradox.
