Don’t let National Grid charge us more for using less electric

My electric bill was $300 this month — $200 for supply and $100 for “delivery” services. When I called National Grid to question that extremely high amount for delivery, they explained that the charge has nothing to do with delivery, but rather is adjusted according to National Grid’s projection on how much electricity they will sell. If the “right” amount of electricity is consumed, the delivery adjustment is minimal or even negative; but if we don’t consume enough, a delivery “adjustment” is used to make up the difference.
Why would I want to invest in alternative energy sources, such as wind or solar, to offset my electric bill, if my bill is simply going to be “adjusted” by National Grid to make up the difference? Delivery charges should be a consistent percent of your service — no more, no less. And your bill should be based on your consumption. If you reduce your consumption, the electric company should not be allowed to make up the difference by increasing surcharges.
Exactly what is the Public Service Commission doing? Why isn’t cost tied strictly to supply and demand? It’s time government stopped working for the big business, and started protecting its citizens.

I suggest that Mr. Beller and anyone else who has this same concern, or any other, to call the Public Service Commission. One of my best friends has recently retired from the PSC and has stated to me on several occasions, that the people should call with their concerns and complaints. Until that happens, the PSC will continue to approve requests from the utility companies believing that they are uncontested by the people.

It shouldn't have to work this way since their job is to oversee the public utilities and protect the consumer. But the PSC is just another arm of the government that needs oversight and input from the citizens.

Yeah,,,,it's all built into their freakin' contract that allows them to 'perform services' in NYS.......if the unions can do it then they can too......
