So in this financial crisis, management will receive apporx. $40,000 in raises. Nice, huh? Add that to Gillen's salary of $155,228 and Kosiur's $80K...and if my off the cuff, in my head, rounded out math is correct...that comes to over a quarter of a million dollars.

And that doesn't take into account Mr. Philip Morris and the not-for-profit Proctors!

How do these people sleep at night?

just when I thought Suhrada wouldnt get any stupider and big - mouthed now he is calling the county a third world country for asking for more aid which makes him disgraceful since if we had the demos in like Blancfield then we would have th ewaid. Also the gazette goesa and snubs Angelo AGAIN we know and in this case Angelo would have better ideas then to compare teh salaries of the commishes at the state and the county which make NO SENSE since the problems in the county are much greater then the states as a whole and the people here need the bigger pay, also I see Suhrad calling for wage cust again which is a joke since that wont add up to much anyway and what is HE saying about what he is worth- that he is not worth the moeny we are paying? I think Judy D, Tony J and Angelo S should call to impeach Joe S at this point for stirring the pot and hurting the people of Rotterdam over here. He is not doing the job and the party doesnt want him anymore. They want more people like Angelo Sanatabarbara who wont throw BS at the demos but will work with them and you dont work with them by pointing such things out and calling your constituants third world people either. Shame on you Suhrad and Farley for making it impossible to get things done

They sleep very well with money in the bank. And nobody knows nuthin. Where is Democratic County leader Judy D on this? Strangely silent. Ditto for James Buhrmaster.

Lumpy Kosiur and Death Ray Gillen should both be fired. The County Manager should be fired for purposing this outrage to the County.

When even the People's Gazette calls for cuts and attacks Gary Hughes you know things are terrible. The stupid Kosiur Holiday Camp must be closed. Metrograft flop must be terminated and sales tax returned to the people. There should be a 10% layoff of all non-law enforcement personnel Countywide. All City and the Scotia branch libraries should be shut and property auctioned off. The Quaker St library should be expanded with the proceeds of the branch sales. The County Home must be sold. This common sense cuts would result in a sales tax decrease, and property tax decrease of 10%. Wake up sheeple...this is the week for action....

C'mon Sal-why don't you put the blame where it belongs on the County Democrats who have wrecked this County in 4 years. Please list your cuts or do you support a 13% increase in County taxes, ON TOP of a town increase? If you do your the only one.

Angelo is great but what are his cuts? Maybe you know something we don't. Angelo and Buhrmaster need to get more vocal. Joe is right stop begging the State {they are broke} and get busy cutting something-ANYTHING! As far as working with the Democrats they refused to let any GOP sit down during the budget talks. Fire the County Manger and don't replace her.

Great cartoon! We're gonna be number one in something! And the huge moron vote attacks Joe Suhrada-one of 2 Legislature's who with Angelo voted to deny Metrograft an extension and more bonding authority.

Troy has no new tax increases. They have no Metrograft. Last time I looked Troy was still in NYS subject to evil "State Mandates". The County needs to find major cuts and immediately sell the County Home. Metrograft needs to end and return the sales tax money to County purchasers. If you disagree, please list your $7million in County cuts. Simply firing Lumpy Kosiur is a positive start but still amounts to chump change.

We should also eliminate the County Communications Director, the latest patronage position that was created and filled within the past year.  A county the size of Schenectady County does not require a "Communications Director".  If Savage and the other Legislators can't speak to the public, then they should be turned out of office.  This position was created as a filter between our county government and the people.

how do they notify the people of the important things if they cut this? This keeps the politics out of it by having this guy over here and Surhada and the repubs are barking up th ewrong tree and showing that they cant work with other people like Ang and most of the demos can. That is why Joe S is a bad legislator and really the enemy of the people and now he is insulting us too by calling us 3rd world. You people are ridiculous and have a demosession obviously

well well welll it looks like Suhrada didnt have anythi9ng stupid to say like he did yesterday and critisize the demos wrongly again when he offered no soloutions again and went along with everything. Only young Farley has something good to add and again the liberal media ignore Angelo which distresses me when we know he is the voice of the reason and can get the things done like no other since they all trust him and work with him for his honestly and charm.

Does the county still have this service? How much does it cost the county? Is it really necessary?

Schenectady County Partners with Send Word Now

“Send Word Now’s technology will enable us to establish instantaneous, two-way communications with critical personnel in emergency situations,”

SCHENECTADY, NY – April 9, 2007. Schenectady County Legislature Chair Susan Savage announced Monday that the County is partnering with Send Word Now for emergency communications services. The County will utilize Send Word Now’s conference bridging, multi-device contact capabilities, and real-time interactive messaging to supplement existing County emergency communication systems.

“Send Word Now’s technology will enable us to establish instantaneous, two-way communications with critical personnel in emergency situations,” said Savage. “This capability will dramatically improve communication during floods, blizzards, and other emergencies.”

“We are pleased that Schenectady County has selected Send Word Now’s leading on-demand alerting and response services,” said Mitchell Orlowsky, Chief Marketing Officer of Send Word Now. “With operations in Schenectady, we already have a connection with the county, and knowing that Schenectady has chosen Send Word Now for its emergency response system strengthens that bond.”

Schenectady County chose to utilize Send Word Now following successful demonstrations for County personnel. “We anticipate being able to use Send Word Now in conjunction with our GIS mapping to communicate effectively from a central location,” says William Van Hoesen, Schenectady County Director of Emergency Management. “We also see using this technology to coordinate drills and tabletop exercises to enhance Schenectady County’s emergency preparedness. Send Word Now can be used to implement a call center on very short notice, which is critical for any emergency response organization.”

Send Word Now is the leading provider of on-demand alerting and response services which drive effective communication during time sensitive situations. The company enables its clients to ensure smart, effective organization-wide coordination in real time, improving day-to-day business operations and ensuring continuity during crises anywhere, anytime, regardless of location or device connection. The company, headquartered in New York City, selected downtown Schenectady as a hub for the company’s network operations and customer service center in 2004.

Plus the law enforcement lives that could be ended without this here if it saves even one life it is worth 10 mill or better indeed my friends. Find something else to cut

Another usless money wasting program, we already have TV, radio, and the internet to get the word out much faster than trying to get the word out at the speed of government.

Right. The communications post is a political lob job. The County Manager post should also be dissolved. If this is a rational budget to her then we don't need her. Go back to a County Board of Supervisors so the Hilltowns can have a say at the County table. Some here better wake up and stop defending the status quo. The coming County hikes with Town tax hikes are going to devastate many residents especially elderly on fixed incomes.

By the way, Montgomery County announced no increase in County Taxes. Why? No Metrograft-no County Home.

way beyond that are a whole heck of a lot of boomers waiting at go to retire, take their money out of the 'markets' and rest.....spend down maybe too,,,,if they want the county homes to accept them via taxpayers.......As for saving the elderly....that is an oxymoron.....we all get old and I have yet to see the
200year old man/woman.....

show me some stats Sal.....and being in the business, once a so-called elderly person has a major surgery/fall etc they may be saved but to what
level do they return???.....not the kind of saving the public thinks......no different than the dumb news reports talking of folks that were in an awful
car/bus crash and then ending the story with "at least there were no fatalities".....anyone ever take care of someone with brain injury from an awful
accident.....trust me life is not remotely the same.......but, as the dumb media reports"at least there were no fatalities"......

taking care of the aged and elderly.....THAT is a whole new animal........the public tosses money at the issue only to turn and watch Survivor/American
Idol/The girls next door etc........

...you are a product of your environment, your environment is a product of your priorities, your priorities are a product of you......
