The Great Escape & Splashwater Kingdom in Queensbury today said it is adding a new ride for 2009 that will be the tallest ride in the park.

The ride is called “Sasquatch” and it will consist of two 192-foot steel towers. Great Escape, owned by New York City-based Six Flags Inc., said the ride “accelerates guests from ground level to the top of the towers in less than 3 seconds” before they are “rocketed downward.”

Also, Great Escape today announced it will spend $1 million to upgrade a park beer garden into a food and entertainment venue that will host concerts and performances.
