I am looking for a new local dentist. I have been using Aspen Dental for the past few years on altamont ave but am less than satisfied with them.

Earlier this month i went in for what i thought was them just fixing an old filling but it turns out that there was a cavity under it. The thing was fine before they drilled it out, now im in pain every day. I was told i need a root canal (will be my second one.. first one was done by them and after a year of dealing with crown issues and pain i just had them pull it)

Cost is a concern since i have no dental insurance.

Can anyone recommend any local dentists, preferably ones that have some good experience with root canals? id rather not have another tooth pulled.

Has anyone heard anything about/go to Allen Shawn M DDS on helderberg ave? That is very close to where i live, within walking distance

Is he the one with the big sign that just says "Dentist" ?  My mom lives right near there.

She goes to the guy on Altamont Ave, across from WalMart .. forgot his name, but her root canal was like $300 last month. Did a good job too.

Though I live in Duanesburg, I go to Dr. Ronald Winnie who is located on Maple Avenue in Saratoga Springs.  He is my brother-in-law.  I have been pleased with his services.

For a while I went to Dr. Traver on Route 7 (near the Mobil Station) in Duanesburg.  He is quite good.  I don't know of this experience w/ root canals.

I don't know what either can do for you pricewise.  You may want to call them and inquire about their fee schedules.

We used Star Dental over across from Rotterdam Square Mall until they stopped taking our insurance.  Dr Chung was very gentle and very concerned with the comfort of his patients.  He did my root canal and have not had a problem with it.

I hate going to the dentist. It is one of those necessary evils to me. But I had a root canal many years ago by Dr.David Nardini on Curry Road. There was never a problem and it was pain free.

And I did hear the same thing about Dr. Chung at Star Dental. I have heard from two other people that he is very good. I may try going to him.
Right now I go to Dr. Rubin on Altamont Ave across from Hannaford. I don't have any complaints but I may still try Dr. Chung.

Let us know who you decided to go to. And if you would recommend him.

I also hate the dentist.  I have had many thousands of $$ of work done.  Dr. David Nardini on Curry Road has been my dentist since about 1977.  I still
have fillings in my mouth that he put in then.  Sometimes he can be grumpy, but I love him to death and won't go to anyone else.  When he retires I will
have every  tooth pulled and call it quits.

I like my dentist.....and I like going to the dentist.....

Actually I do have some friends who do like or at least don't mind going to the dentist. Although they have never had to have extensive dental work done. Just routine exams and cleanings. And maybe a small filling here and there.
